Ross Perot had the right idea, take the best and most widely accepted planks from the D and R platforms then add fiscal and moral responsibility. At the time it would have worked, but it was clear that he was threatened within an inch of his daughters life and initially backed off his campaign only to reenter the fray with an absolutely unacceptable idiot for a running mate and therefore insuring his loss. IMHO the Republican party has been infiltrated and perverted beyond resurrection.

It must be a party well controlled and monitored so it is not infiltrated the way the REPs have been.

You are correct in that the election system must be revamped, but that is only possible on a state by state basis, requiring a consolidated effort by the new parties efforts to force entry into the process and guarantee it has spotless integrity.

The real problem with any of this is the determination of evil to kill or threaten to kill anyone that opposes them... On those grounds alone it will be a troublesome and frightening process.

I think a popular third party would be one of the greatest things to ever happen to the US. We used to have ,any viable political parties. You are right it may hurt the Presidential vote, at least in the short term, but I believe it would have long term benefits.
