Not only that but the system is set up to maintain this situation.
If she gets a better job, she will lose any help she is getting. Meanwhile affordable housing is not close to better jobs or affordable groceries..imagine having to choose between $3 crap food at the convenience store or taking half a day, a long walk or a bus ride, to shop and get apples and eggs and bread for $3 at the supermarket? People are trapped into these situations. When a few extraordinary individuals do manage to escape, either by fortune or enduring extreme duress, we hold them up as examples rather than saying ' it shouldn't have to be this difficult.'
Society here, and pretty much everywhere is currently broken.

Probably none because the dumbfucks burnt them down or robbed/looted them so many times they went out of business and left the town altogether. This is no ones fault but their own, yet they will never accept the blame.
