Well, everything happens for a reason.

Sometimes the reason is you are stupid and you make bad life decisions.

Re: This is $7.50 an hour life
I'll go down to my local post office and apply for a job. I bet within a week or two they will call me up and be begging for me to come and work. Why? I don't have a college degree, but I did graduate from college. I'm retired and loving life. Yet this poor lady won't even try to do better for herself. I wonder why she has that mindset. If she has child care then she should not have a part time job. She should be actively looking for a full time job. Thus coming back to the post office, she could probably get on there and begin to make some serious cash.

Too bad her life circumstances won't allow her to get hired. She might be a great employee, if she only will try....harder.
 Quoting: Tynyyn

Maybe there aren't many jobs in her area. Maybe she cannot afford transit to another part of town.

Do you think Jesus would mock her?
 Quoting: Happy in Nature

Honestly, I don't think he was mocking her, just stating a fact. Like I said earlier, raising her wages to $15 will do nothing for her, they will just cut her welfare.

Do you know how many working poor there are? Those moms and dads don't have as nice a place as her and probably less food and NO medical, and they don't get to spend all their time with their kids as she clearly does since she's only working a few hours. What would Jesus think about the working poor being snubbed on a daily basis?
 Quoting: Keilani

My mom worked three minimum wage jobs in FL and couldn't qualify for assistance while my black high school gym teacher drove a Lincoln and supplemented her income with food stamps.

I grew up in Vermont, home of the Welfare Queen. I am 100% against this lifestyle.

I also know many people who needed a couple years of assistance to get on their feet. I would rather pay out welfare benefits to keep kids fed and sheltered rather than making them homeless.

Many kids go to public schools just to get breakfast and lunch. The Democrats created ghettos with their pubic housing. The schools are a reflection of the neighborhood. The businesses are a reflection of the neighborhood. It is very hard to get out of this situation. Not impossible, but not as simple as getting a better job.

A handful of people control most of the resources in the world, and yet we blame the poor for being poor.

If a wealthy person gets pregnant and has a baby, that's ok. But if a poor person has sex and gets pregnant, she should work 80 hours a week and never see her baby because she deserves it for getting pregnant and not being able to support a kid, right?

She is at least trying to get a job. She isn't bragging about popping out another kid for more WIC benefits.

Matthew 15:32

And Jesus called His disciples to Him, and said, “I feel compassion for the people, because they have remained with Me now three days and have nothing to eat; and I do not want to send them away hungry, for they might faint on the way.”

Gee...maybe aged 22 you should be getting a skill set to be employable not banging Jamal and being his baby momma.

This chick getting food stamps, free schools and meals for kid, housing, free health care and I supposed to feel bad?

I'm the fucking slave. I spent 8 years paying my way through college and they are jacking me for 35K / year in taxes to pay for leaches like this.

You are pathetic and clearly have ZERO EMPATHY.

The SYSTEM OF SLAVERY is set up like this by the 1%. How do you like being screwed by the totally fraudulant Federel Reserve who are COUNTERFEITERS? That is your money SYSTEM OF FRAUD and of course you are too ignorant of that truth and would rather point your crooked fingers at the people instead of the system.

Listen, I washed cars for 8 hours a day. Then I ate dinner and caught a ride to another county and worked another 4 hours washing cars. When I got home, my feet were wrinkled and bleached white from the chemicals. The skin used to fall off of my soles. I did this 5 days a week and some Saturdays.

Why? Because I wanted to eat and have a roof over my head.

I bought a car for $600 and fixed anything that broke on it with cheap tools I bought at Advanced Auto. I had 2-3 roommates in a 2 bedroom apartment and slept on the couch.

Life SHOULD be hard when you are young. It teaches you to be strong and how you must work for everything. Do this right, and life will get easier as you get older. Take the easy way out, and you will ALWAYS BE POOR.

Just facts.

Did you support a child?

Do you think she should have had an abortion? Is it the child's fault that she got pregnant and decided to keep the baby? Do you think that society is better served by not giving her aid and leaving her and her baby homeless?

I did not have a child until I was married and owned a home. Responsibility. Look it up.

This is America! This is slavery!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79390582

It's not slavery! Some of us are old enough to remember when minimum wage jobs were for high school kids. It gave them work experience for when they got an adult job.

Minimum wage jobs were not meant to support a family. We all knew we needed a skill to have an adult job. If they choose to have no skill and work a high school job, they deserve high school pay. $7.50 is a decent wage for non skilled labor. That was never meant to be a career.

What is wrong with some of these people?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77984699

There are millions more minimum wage jobs than there are teenagers working them. Why are you so interested in high profits for a company like McDonalds? Or a rich business owner? If a business owner cannot afford to pay a living wage without going out of business then they shouldn't be in business anymore.

"I believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. A bunch of cotton farmers bought slaves from the Dutch who bought them from aggressive, organized, and smarter African Tribes.

We bred them for several generations to be docile work horses and now we expect them to be integrated into a society where the best paying jobs require drive, intellect, commitment, entrepreneurship, and lateral thinking.

Fuck's sake, what the hell do you expect from these people?

Almost all jobs available are in this pay range, college grads can't even find decent jobs these days, you must not be aware or informed...i say she find a work at home job or do child care at home...i wish I had good internet...i live way, way out and not much available, so I could work online at home, I think that's her best bet , maybe clean houses on the side...

In other words, you don't know what it is like to be a poor, single mother trying to support a baby and yet you feel you can judge her because you made a different decision.

Again, is it better for society that she receive some aid to feed and shelter her child, or should they be homeless because she wasn't as responsible as you were?

Get a better job.
When you have to catch a bus that runs 2-3 times a day, not convenient to your shift to get anywhere near a place that offers a better job.
Not to mention finding childcare or affording it to work longer hours.
Fuck that.
Pay a living wage. It's about time we recognize the slave masters for what they are. Cut or cap CEO salaries. Why does anyone need to make more than a half million a year? Seriously, if you can't find affordable housing, a decent car, childcare, and groceries for a half million you're just greedy. No one works hard enough to deserve more than that. No one.
It's all about paradigms and the lies you're being sold.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 71274272

I agree with much that you say... but I must point out that for me it's less about how hard we all work in relation to each other.... it's about the choices we make in our lives!

Choose to save or choose to spend.
choose to smoke/drink coffee/do drugs, etc.. choose to save
Choose to play all day and party all night or choose to study, do free community service, etc..
Choose to procreate at a young age or choose not to.

Unfortunately it's not this simple.. the choices we make are much more complex than that and the options we are given sometimes seem to have been chosen by others for us whether knowingly or not. We do not all start out on an even playing field and their are obvious and not so obvious advantages and disadvantages in life for all of us.

Our chooses in life, in a way, should determine what we deserve...

Lord.. I don't know what I'm trying to say.. could ramble on for hours.. So many problems it's hard to address just one.

Not only that but the system is set up to maintain this situation.
If she gets a better job, she will lose any help she is getting. Meanwhile affordable housing is not close to better jobs or affordable groceries..imagine having to choose between $3 crap food at the convenience store or taking half a day, a long walk or a bus ride, to shop and get apples and eggs and bread for $3 at the supermarket? People are trapped into these situations. When a few extraordinary individuals do manage to escape, either by fortune or enduring extreme duress, we hold them up as examples rather than saying ' it shouldn't have to be this difficult.'

Society here, and pretty much everywhere is currently broken.

The trouble with this bitching is no matter what the government does it's never enough........ever

A failed capitalist system is one in which everyone wants Uncle Sugar to provide for their own failings after the same Uncle Sugar precipitated their failings with the very policies that were supposed to help them.

We've allowed an entire generation of unfit individuals to propagate in a system that was designed for self sufficiency and subsequently decided to subsidize them.

Dovetail this with the global economy and third world nations hijacking our manufacturing base with the full cooperation of our government and we are doomed to failure.

At the outside I give it until the end of this decade.
 Quoting: Irish eyes

Our cost of living has continued to rise while wages have not kept up. In this modern world we have corporations that governments cater to that keep their profits high and the individual incomes low. We need companies big and small to pay a living wage otherwise we will subsidize the lives of poor people and the profits of business owners and corporations. The middle class gets screwed as always.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78537070

At this point employing your solution would cause mass inflation.

The system has failed as it was designed to fail.

If you look throughout US history there was only one period of true prosperity and that was post WW2-about 1970. It was built on credit and designed to fail.

Real value and real money doesn't exist. Most large payrolls now go directly through the Federal Reserve.

Game over. Even Wall Street floats on zombie money.

Make the minimum wage $30 an hour... it's all fake money anyway used to buy crap from China so what difference does the amount make anymore??

There are certain sectors that are done in this country and if you really think a politician is going to build back better, then you're a damn fool...

The clock is ticking and the greatest of all worldwide purges is on the horizon...

A terrible human tragedy is coming and nothing can stop it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79365047

Building Back Better slogan came from the UN, what a joke. One Biden's first few days he's successfully increased gas prices and effectively cut tens of thousands of jobs with shutting down that pipeline.

Do you even know how that trickle down effect will effect people on the lower end of the food chain? Probably not.
 Quoting: Keilani

Oh believe me I understand ...the fact is.. with the people who are now in charge...

Nothing is going to stop what is coming...

So start accepting that fact..

If they help one while hurting a hundred others, that's just fine by them...

So why not push the pedal to the metal..

She explained in the very beginning of the video that she was often forced to clock out early when business was slow, saying that sometimes she'd get there at 7am and would be told by her manager to clock out by 7:30 because it was slow.

In the comment below, I'm going to explain why you're wrong about her, but first, I'm going to explain why we're living in an illusion and are already in the end stages of a collapsing, fully-looted socialist government because I doubt you care about my life story, which would affirm what this woman goes through.

I have sympathy for her. But I also don't approve of universal basic income or even most other state-offered welfare. That's just welfare for the corporate state that erodes the value of the dollar and enslaves us all.

It artificially lowers the price of products because our tax dollars pay for the food stamps, medicaid and child care that allow McDonalds to get away with paying an unlivable wage. We pay the subsidy with our own taxes, they cash in on all the product profit, and their workers barely survive with subsidies from the state.

Worse, they underprice all businesses that pay a living wage, thus destroying the middle class in the process.

They get to sell trillions in cheap, inedible food to the slaves, and the slaves don't even realize that they aren't really paying $5.95 for that "value meal." They're also paying an extra $10 in income taxes to cover the services provided to the minimum wage serf who made it. And the poor guy who's middle class pays $20 extra bucks instead of $10.

It's worse than slavery. It's socialist wealth redistribution and serfdom. We haven't lived in a capitalist economy since the New Deal (America's greatest betrayal) was passed.

For over a century, we have been living a lie, believing that we live in a free and capitalist economy while suffering through wealth re-distribution and crony corporate welfare.

We've lost the value of our money, lost our freedom, lost our independence, lost our retirements, lost our greatness over the past century, and are now collapsing under the burden of the socialist state because the corporate cronies have stolen it all.

They saved the biggest steal for last when they took 90% of the economic stimulus packages and gave it to huge corporations that weren't even shut down.

What we're going through is no different than the USSR's collapse and universal basic income won't help.

You can stick a fork in this socialist nightmare. It's already been looted beyond recovery. That's what socialists do. They loot all the wealth, throw out just enough scraps to keep the peasants quiet and avoid a revolution, and then pull the plug by starting a war so they can get away with the loot.

That is the biggest bunch of bullshit I've ever seen.

Am I supposed to feel sorry for that fat ass? She don't like making shit wages, then go get a better job. Why is this any ones problem except her own? Maybe she shouldn't have shat out a kid that she can't afford to pay for, maybe she shouldn't have made a kid with a fucking felon who is and will always be incarcerated.

It's always someone else's problem, never hers. It's McDonald's fault because they make too much profit. Boo hoo. Then don't work for them. No one is forcing you to do any of this. You made the choices you made, live with them or change them. I fucking hate people like her. Disgusting.
 Quoting: Irredeemable

Shut the fuck up. There aren't enough jobs out there for her to just go and get a better one. Best thing she can do is get a second or third job. There isn't a well paying job out there for everyone. Some Americans HAVE TO live in poverty so you can enjoy better things. It IS how our country works, and yes people will complain about it.
 Quoting: CoolMamba

Bullshit. There are plenty of jobs, she just has to want to do it. She clearly does not. She chose to be a whore and pop out a kid instead of learning a skill or a trade or getting an education. That's not my problem, or anyone else's. I should not have to pay for her fucked up decisions. You fucking pay for her.

And so fucking what if she has to get 3 or even 5 fucking jobs to get by? That's life. Especially life where you have a kid to support without a father because you are an irresponsible piece of shit. The world owes her NOTHING.
 Quoting: Irredeemable

so you are ok with corporate welfare and big business bailouts but not helping the individual?

face it, we haven't lived in a free market capitalist system at any point in our lifetimes.

we live in a corporate socialist government.

there is no level playing field

big business is close to monopoly size at this point and they get constant help from the government.

but lets just vote that will change it right?

time for you to wake up.

there are not enough "good jobs" for all those millions.

voting is rigged beyond belief and multi billion dollar corporations pay 0 dollars in income tax while the upper middle class is drained.

Re: This is $7.50 an hour life
Now, regarding this young mother, I think that sometimes, well-to-do people don't quite get what women go through if then run into unfortunate events as young mothers.

I lived through exactly what this woman did as a young mother leaning to be a nurse's aide. Until I was beyond the minimum wage stage, I was living in a shelter with my infant child.

This was before I found my family now. Many years before. Her father was supposed to be my forever, but he turned out to be a slow cycling bi-polar with severe problems. I had apparently met him during a good couple of years. But the poor thing went right over the edge shortly after we had my daughter and tried to kill me.

That shit wasn't my fault either. I was a young adult, married to a man with a decent job. He just went nuts. It happens. And before I knew it, I was homeless and an only parent, with no way to get any help from her institutionalized father.

You can't blame people for being caught in this type of poverty and be honest.

I went through it again years later when my next husband, and the father of my son, nearly died. We went from middle class family making 6 figures between us and living in a beautiful house with three hobby cars to losing everything. We had to sell all three cars to pay rent (of course we'd lost the house). And the crazy thing was, we had insurance, sick leave, all of it, but it wasn't enough and came too late. We were low on savings because we'd just had a baby.

Twice I'd built a life and started a family. Twice it was ripped away by circumstances beyond my control. The life this woman lives is very real. And you never know, she may turn out to be your doctor when you're old and dying. I'm about to become a lawyer after all.

Respect. Women who can overcome the circumstances of this nation still have the fighting spirit. The nanny state is a myth. It's no nanny. It's Oliver Twists' orphanage, it's the slave master's whip, it's Robin Hood, but in reverse and we're ALL serfs.

If you weren't a serf, you wouldn't be here.

7.50 x 80 = 600 after taxes about 500$ not 240....so she is not working full time at 7.50 and has a child. This is noone elses fault or responsibility. work more, get a better job.

Very well said!

But if one were to try to fix things.. how would we start?

How many quality supermarkets are set up in these neighborhoods?

Probably none because the dumbfucks burnt them down or robbed/looted them so many times they went out of business and left the town altogether. This is no ones fault but their own, yet they will never accept the blame.

Re: This is $7.50 an hour life
Good G/d what some dillusional propaganda. This girl will be no better off at $15 an hour because she's obviously NOT working full time, AND, then she would lose all her cushy benefits.

Wow, so here are some things I also noticed.

1. Her house is VERY nice, two story, granite counters, and she only pays like $230 a month, sorry don't feel sorry for her.

2. She says she can't afford vegetables but has SODA in her cart.

3. She acts like they don't have enough food to eat, BUT she looks VERY well fed to me.

4. She says she only goes to doctor if she has too, well so what, so do most people, AND it's obviously all paid for.

5. She said a root canal was going to be $300, seriously, she's got to have benefits for that also, because no way root canal is only $300 around here.

6. She complains that she only has her second check of the month to buy her kid nice things, but if she got $15 an hour and lost all her benefits, she would have zero left to buy her kid anything. I know, been there, done that.

7. Funny how she even splits her housing price with her sister. My understanding is that you can't have others living with you when you're getting free housing.

8. She doesn't realize how lucky she is to even have free housing. In Florida, there's usually a two-year waiting period, and will mostly NOT go to whites for some reason.

9. As a side note, those boots look pretty dang pricey.

Re: This is $7.50 an hour life
As AI and robots advance there becomes less and less reasons for humans to serve the elite. The Technocracy beast runs on electric, lots of it. Young people should learn mechanical skills geared towards robotics and automation. The elite envision themselves living with all the luxuries of the present age with very few humans serving them. On a side not in 1976 I made 10$ cash per hour working on a tree farm, That 10 dollars is 46$ today. The game is rigged. It's a club and we ain't in it.

There aren't a lot of high paying positions out there but there's better than this...walmart starts out at $11/hour, not a lot but better...she could make a resume and pick up a few dresses at a resale shop and go for a receptionist job also...
