Mezzo's Thursday Mezzage, the final chapter..
My dear friends, I hope everyone is doing well. hf

I have been absent for a while, till after the inauguration, for reasons I mentioned in earlier threads. In my opinion, the hate, division and insults on this forum have been off the charts lately and I could do without all that negative energy for a bit. I also know for a big part of my American friends the outcome of the election was not as they expected and it is a human reaction that it caused anger, sadness and frustration and people should be allowed to get that out. No problem at all.

Yet I have to get some more words off my chest regarding the current atmosphere. Read it or skip it. The choice is as always yours of course.

The thing that triggered me to write this, is the generalizing of everyone who did not vote for Trump. They are referred to as frauds, demonrats, criminals and what not. I find it quite disrespectful to put everyone who does not share the same opinion under the same umbrella. I know it is for sure in many cases not meant to be taken personally and mainly directed to those in charge, but I do hope you do know that many people we consider friends here, are a major core part of this forum, who put in a lot of effort on a daily basis to keep this community alive, but do not share the same views.

We live in a society where slick and loud mouthed media driven marketeers on either side of the political spectrum try to not only get everyone in their camp and sell their product, but use the most aggressive ways to ridicule the other side. If you are not with us, you are against us. And we the people copy that behavior. On to our friends, families and whoever else and let it destroy and divide long lasting friendships and relationships.

We have become a schoolyard bully society driven by schoolyard bully leaders. We rather doubt the loss of a loved one due to the coronavirus and demand proof or claim that provided proof is fake than to show respect and offer condolences and support. That is how far we have drifted from our core as humans among each other. Doesn’t that make you sad and angry either? It does me.

There are many who root for war, civil or global. Claim that it is the only way to restore balance and freedom. How fucked up is that? If you want to know the consequences of war, ask those completely destroyed families in war torn countries, living in refugee camps far away from home, with nothing else left than the clothes they wear. What balance and freedom? Those in power will still be in power, maybe replaced by someone else, but still in the same power structure and those who struggled before will struggle even more, with the high risk of losing loved ones added to that. So, what balance and freedom??

I am a dreamer, naive and the ultimate optimist, against the current. So be it. And no one has to agree with me either. I don’t claim to know it all. Not by far. I just hope that when the fog of frustration, anger and sadness settles, we find a moment to reflect on that and that we realize ourselves that our neighbor is not our enemy, that there should be room again for common ground or different views.

That we realize ourselves that when push comes to shove, those so called leaders will not be the ones on our doorstep to help us solve our daily struggles in life. To pay our mortgages, rent, bills or to make sure there is food on the table. We ourselves are the ones that do. Our friends and family do whenever and if they are able to.

That we realize ourselves that we are the ones who shape our future and our freedom, through our own strength, qualities, instincts and beliefs. And that we realize ourselves that succeeding in life as a person, as people and as society is not bound to politics, lifestyle or religion, but to recognizing, respecting, acknowledging and stimulating the unique qualities and talents in each other.

I know of the personal struggles of some on here, probably better than anyone. I have always tried to support and help as much as I could, without judging, without questioning someone’s belief, political view or lifestyle. And I know, looking at how many fantastic people came together through the Christmas GiveAway to unbiased help so many in need, that I am not alone in that thought.

So I will say it again, our neighbor (in the broadest sense of the word) is not our enemy. As a dreamer, naivist and ultimate positivist I can only hope that after mourning the loss many experience, we come to our senses and rely on our own instincts again, instead of blindly following those media horny megaphone marketeers of today, who claim to be our leaders and know what is best for us, as said on either side of the political spectrum. Let's shape our own future, we don't need others to do that for us. Try not to be a parrot, but believe in our own unique self and the qualities and talents of those around us, even if their view on life does not match ours. Try to find common ground or agree to disagree, but live and let live. Stick together. It is the only way to get back to a better and more humane society again, for all of us.

Just my probably way too long two cents again. Much love and wisdom to everyone! grouphug

nothing is simple now -

except your Christmas thread, which was simply wonderful.

I often think of the Thirty Year's War and how for many, that was all they knew of life, from birth to death.

I think of the moments of freedom and peace we experienced as Americans, and how precious both are.

Freedom and Peace are like your two hands - not identical, but both required for a full life.

 Quoting: beeches

And that is exactly the problem. That modern age Pandora's Box, our technology communication society that we let dictate our lives. 24/7 social media, giving a voice and platform to who ever wants to be heard or seen, whether they are sincere or not.

Who knows what is real nowadays, who knows what is fake nowadays? Today's technology allows us to doctor anything, to push colored opinions on anyone. It is just a matter of how talented and convincing someone is to get their point across.

I have said it before to friends, it is not for no reason that people, even younger generations long for a time like the 70s and 80s. Not because everything was much better in those days, but because there was more balance and at least a sense of peace and freedom and community. A time where we were not ruled and shaped into AI robots, following and believing what is fed to us by those who have the best marketing strategy.

And even though it will cause so much hurt as well, this society needs a reset, a black out, so we need to rely on our own instincts again when it comes to trust and shaping our own lives.

Even though I know that most likely will never happen. hf

Edit: Btw, that wanting to go back in time, is not just an American feeling.

Much love Intermezzo!

I agree with you. Although I understand the frustrations of everyone, I believe that people have allowed the negativity of the world to blind them on how they react and interact with others that oppose them. I believe that's why finding an inner peace is so important and crucial to a person's character. I took a long break from coming on here until recently due to the election. I was sick to my stomach after yesterday's clown show, but today I woke up with a peace that I have from my Lord. I believe it will be tough, but we are going to see a light at the end of the tunnel. We just have to keep pushing through, and encouraging and bringing along anyone we can on this journey- not push them down.

I've not changed my attitude towards my neighbors because of this. Jesus tells us to love them as ourselves.

This is loser talk.

So there is nothing we can do? Really?
Do you not understand that our vote will no longer matter? Did you not observe the blatant, orchestrated, fraud and theft of the election right out in the open? Did not think it strange that the most vile, reprobate candidates for president and vice president were forced on us as if to say to us, "you WILL take this, and you can't do anything to stop us!" DO you not realize that the same communist "machine" that accomplished this Maoist coup will only become more entrenched and powerful?

Life is a garden.

There are life sustaining plants and there are invasive weeds. The weeds are not only minimal in nutrients, but can be potentially fatal. They need less to survive and will thrive even in the harshest of environments.

The farmer did not plant the weeds. They made their way into the garden on their own. No matter how long they grow alongside the fruit, they can never become as the fruit. But, if the farmer does not remove them, their roots will choke out those of the life giving plants, and erode the soil of its' richness.

The result would be devastating. There would be no sustenance; only emptiness and death.

It is not hate that drives the farmer to pull the weeds from his garden, but the survival of life itself.

As much as people would like to think otherwise, the same is true of man.

I hear your message, but I am not sure you are framing the situation correctly.

"We live in a society where slick and loud mouthed media driven marketeers on either side of the political spectrum try to not only get everyone in their camp and sell their product, but use the most aggressive ways to ridicule the other side. If you are not with us, you are against us. And we the people copy that behavior. On to our friends, families and whoever else and let it destroy and divide long lasting friendships and relationships."

see, the thing is....

The Media, with very few and only independent exceptions, waged an all out coordinated battle, in conjunction with all major tech platforms, to disparage Trump and his supporters and label them as literal NAZIS.

Any person who does not see a problem with that or take it as a warning sign that Trump is a threat to their hegemony, must literally be ignorant beyond help, or complicit in the deception.

Lets imagine that this Anti-Trump sentiment and rhetoric is equivalent to a Zombie virus infection. Once you get it, you rarely if ever can be converted back to a logical, compassionate human being. You either are or are not able to reason and observe reality. If you are able, there is no way you could misinterpret recent events. If you are not able, you are a danger. You are literally a threat to my life, because following the "other side"'s train of thought leads to only one result - which it eliminating any and all resistance.

You do not "have rational discourse" with zombies. Any attempt is a risk of infection to others who are not able to defend themselves.

I repeat - anyone who supports the MSM narratives is either stupid or a liar and nothing you say as an individual can change that.

Severe shame or consequences.... pain... are the only things that make self centered individuals pay attention or consider their choices.

If, no matter what they say or do, they know you will just want to "talk about it"... they will rob, rape, and kill you and call themselves a hero.

Maybe it is my lack of being able to explain this right. You might be someone who does not get angry at your neighbor for what is happening in today's society, which is not just limited to the USA btw, but a lot of people do and downright hate those who voted not like they did. Whole communities do. People on each other's buddy list on here do it. Blaming each other, calling them stupid.

What most fail to see is that no matter who is in charge, in general sense they are not there for your sake, or to help you build a better society again. To me voting indeed means nothing these days. No matter who it is, blue, red, purple, green, it is all about them and us. They have become managers, not leaders. And when their term is done, they pat the other side on the back at parties, laugh in your face, shrug and claim they did their best and move on to the next big paying job. Here in the Netherlands it is no different. Of course that is something to be outraged about. But be outraged against the system, not against the people who have been fooled just like us by that same system.

I understand your question about not being able to do anything. Of course there is enough you can do. Problem is that our world has never been as divided and individually driven as it is today. And those in charge are more than happy to exploit that in every way they can. By insults, by repeatedly pushing weakness of others instead of going from own or combined strength. There is zero common ground to be found in their rhetoric. And the more they repeat it, the more people believe that there is only one side that's good, even if their own situation doesn't change or only gets worse.

And as long as people and communities let themselves be divided more and more and gobble up everything that is fed to them and follow the pointing accusing finger and join in scapegoating our own, through 24/7 media that for the most part can't be trusted either, we will let ourselves be transformed into AI robots with only doubt and distrust against each other. Without common ground and our own common sense there is no counter weight against this broken system and we indeed end up in the situation you describe.

EACH TO HIS OWN KIND.
 Quoting: ~Jazzy~

I don't always know what you exactly mean with your words Jazzy, but that must be my level of intellect.

If you talk about invasive weeds as people who voted for the other party and fruits as the ones who voted for your side, then that is exactly the division in our communities that I am talking about. That would mean there is no room for other life or that they are subjective to the other and I simply refuse to believe that.

Also this weed has been planted, for a long, long time.

5 stars for a stellar Mezzo rant. That was a much needed message with all the fractures going on in society. Unity is a catchphrase, what matters is our relationships with those close to us, those we work with and the strangers we encounter. The more human and humane we are the better the chances others will find balance in their own lives. Simple acts of kindness and understanding can change a person's day, week or even life.

Forgive others - it's frees yourself.
Help every one every chance you can - one day you will need help in return.
Love yourself because you are unique in the whole universe - there is but 1 of you ever created. Don't worry why you were made in fact don't worry at all - it's a waste of time and energy.
Trust that all will work out as it was meant to. It doesn't mean you will get what you want just be happy you had the experience of being alive - a gift so precious but many have forgotten.

Have an excellent new year Mezzo.

Re: Mezzo's Thursday Mezzage, the final chapter..

Change my mind.
 Quoting: The Rickest Rick Sanchez

Oh I most likely won't ever be able to change your mind. The only thing that I can say is that there is not just one opinion or one right answer. People get fooled, on either side, all the time. But does that make them the enemy? Or are the ones who fool them the enemy? The puppets or the puppet masters?

Not one media outlet can be trusted these days, including social media. We believe what we want to believe, whether it is fake or not. Repeating is the force of advertising. They all do it. Not one of those in charge seek commitment, even if they claim they do. They repeat and repeat and repeat until people believe that black is white and that all who are not with them are against them.
