Re: Sleep. Help!!!!!!!!
Soak your feet in epsom salts.
then massage them.
Massage your scalp.
Put some essential oils around the house
Keep lights low
Don't watch computer before bedtime
Check blood pressure
When you lay down put warm moist washcloth on your face and forehead.
Tell yourself mentally to relax your toes, then your feet, then legs, etc.
Imagine yourself on a warm beach melting into the sand.

Re: Sleep. Help!!!!!!!!
insomnia has destroyed my life. But, i've had some success with ornithine, lysine, glycine, holy basil,

lithium orotate, phosphatidylserine (these a couple of hours before sleep)

antihistamines worked for me for years, but now have the opposite effect

Re: Sleep. Help!!!!!!!!
Magnesium glycinate before bedtime

All forms of magnesium are relaxing and help with sleep but some are absorbed better than others
The glycinate form is very relaxing
I have known many people finally get good sleep after taking it

Re: Sleep. Help!!!!!!!!
I haven’t been able to sleep but few hours over last week and a half. I’ve tried melatonin been through about half a bottle during this period., sleep sounds galore. I’ve changed my diet and began exercising. Eating at certain times and ceasing liquids past certain times. I am on the brink of sleep and just stay there. I am going crazy. I am on lamotrigine for seizures since sept. Not until recently have I had this issue. I called my dr. Office to see if they would prescribe something to help me sleep. The dr. Who keeps rescheduling a month at a time. They refused until I saw dr. Feb 18 is wh n I’ll hopefully have this appointment. What do I do? I am scared I’m going to have seizure hallucination this event and anxiety is off the charts. Last time it happened I was screaming for my mom as the shadows swirled around the room and two upside down spinning pyramids in my hands. Please help me

Consult a doctor, YOUR doctor, insomnia is one of the side effects.
Ask your doc if trazadone is an option for you.

It's good at putting you to sleep quickly, like about 15 minutes after taking it. I take it every night, just to go to sleep.

It's worth a shot.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79963045

Important point here about the side effects of lamotrigine
Call your doctor and don't ask for something to help you sleep (this will likely just trigger them to schedule a later appointment). Tell them you are having side effects from the medication they prescribed to you and that you need to be seen immediately. If they won't take you, get a new doctor.

Re: Sleep. Help!!!!!!!!
There is an OTC (over the counter) allergy pill called Benadryl that can be found everywhere. It will knock you out quickly and you will sleep great. I always felt amazing the next day after taking it due to such a deep sleep. But make sure you take it several hours before you wake up, otherwise you will feel groggy the next morning. Also NyQuil works great too. Also wine works great to fall asleep as well.

Good luck!

Re: Sleep. Help!!!!!!!!
Try: No caffeine. No sugar or artificial sweeteners. Take warm Edson salt bath in the evening, soaking for 15-20 min. Evening meal should be something like pasta, make it high carb. Should help.

I tried gluten free at one point for 3 months and got total insomnia. Completely corrected when I went back to carbs. Good luck to you. Sleep is important.

Re: Sleep. Help!!!!!!!!
Now if you could find someway to ...'save' up sleep...

like for years and years and years get 9-11 hours every single night. Then kind of like a kinetic bracelet, store up what you don't need. Use it when you do.

then your sister gives you some secrets to survive off of 4-5 hours a night by power sleeping, skipping REM state.

wonderful sis...love ya

oh wait, no that isn't right ..that was sci-fy fantasy book...never mind

2 Benadryl jell caps. Or have the dr prescribe Hydrozizine.
I have 22 forward gears and a supercharged brain that won’t quit.
Done it all. This is the least of all evils.

turn off any LED/blue lights, unplug your wifi, then turn your phone off and leave it in another room
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79671833

Was going to suggest the same thing. There are apps for computers, tablets, phones that remove the blue light for a couple hours before bedtime. This gets your body ready for sleep.

Half a joint of good Indica, a little apple cider vinegar & a vitamin D3 gummy, works for me.
Also, occasionally use the disposable earplugs, for a long, deep sleep.

Re: Sleep. Help!!!!!!!!
The only way you could have insomnia that bad is if it's like the aliens or gangstalkers or something. Do you have people following you around different places, or does your head mysteriously bash into the pillow a few times just as your're dozing off?

I would suggest some beer, but if it's the aliens and one of their psychics causing the insomnia, then they're going to want you to get that alcohol every night and will just hold you awake until you get the amount they want you to. One idea is to put some earphones on and listen to some music on youtube as your laying down, or watch their free movies until you're knocked out.

Basically, if you're out of it you should fall asleep... but if that's not happening, the only thing that could cause that would be like the aliens. Unless you're a meth head or something?

Work out for 2 hours or do something mentally challenging.

Do not do anything before you plan on sleeping - looking at a computer screen etc. for an hour at least.

Check your magnesium and zinc levels, deficiencies will affect your thyroid and hypothalamus, affecting your mood and can cause insomnia.
