DOOM BREAK: Let's have a good ole fashioned coffee klatch!
EDIT: For those of you who don't know what a coffee klatch is, it's very simply a gathering of friends, drinking coffee and talking about whatever moves them to speak up.

hf

Now that that's out of the way....

Let the troubles of the world melt away....heh, you having problems with that?

Then first please do sit and do this meditation--

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]

And then let's just talk about our lives....because I'm really hoping youse guyses have more going on in your lives than the horror show we're watching.

Me? I am now retired!....rastabanan

And the best news of all?....when I applied for my SS retirement, I found out I was going to get almost double the amount, because I had been married over 10 years.

I'm still, almost a week later, breaking out in fits of giggling with joy because of this AWESOME NEWS!

Oh also, I'm starting Chantix today to quit smoking....5a

Please, no lectures about quitting smoking. Cigarettes are my one remaining nemesis I have left in life (I hope). It's one I HAVE to conquer.

I have before taken Chantix, at a half dose, because it made my brian a little floatie and because I was working, but it did KILL my desire to smoke....it blocks the nicotine receptors, or something like that.

But now, I'm not working and driving - I don't even own my own car - and I'm not in any strenuous relationships, so I'm going to go for it!

Of course, if I start to have any of the bad reactions to it, I'll back off of it, and regroup. I am wanting it to be the "magic pill"....I need a magic pill on this one.

sigh....and reflecting back on a conversation yesterday wherein I was being told I was giving my power away to cigarettes, I suppose I still am doing that.

Heh, you'd think with my vast wealth of experience overcoming crap, this would be a cake walk. It is not.

I am clearly seeing now how it is siphoning off my power from me....sigh

So, I have good news, then some more good news, then I'm struggling....charlie

How about youse guyses?....I know you've still got to have lives going on....hf

Haha that video was great. Good luck with quitting. They say that every attempt to quit makes your odds go up or something like that, but every time I try and fail it just makes it harder to start the next try.

Heh, something interesting just happened. As I was posting this response to this thread--

[link to www.godlikeproductions.com]

I'm having the same type of problem, and I've pretty much come to the same conclusion. I'm in the process of trying to just peel it off me.
 Quoting: cosmicgypsy

--in my intuitive vision I momentarily saw a snake sloughing off its skin. As many know, the snake is symbolic of the creative life force. Seeing a snake shed its skin is symbolic of rebirth and transformation.

chuckle....and I sat here and started wondering if it was as simple as just letting go of our disappointment, anger, and sadness.

Of course, it's that simple. Not necessarily what's involved in letting go is simple, but once that were to be done, then life will become simpler, at least internally....and everything starts from within. No more gazillion little rats running wheels in the brian is a good thing, eh?

Yes, it is a comfort to me to know that I am transforming, albeit in baby steps. It is hard to let go, because it feels like giving up....sigh

But is it giving up, or is it simply moving forward, not staying stuck in the past?

I don't think it's best for me to entertain failing. I mean, it just spins me down when I think of the times I tried to quit, and failed.

I'm still trying to get comfortable with the idea I have no job to go to. In fact, I would still be working AND collecting my SS if it weren't for my spine....well, and my bosses inability to stick to the work schedule we had agreed on. She loaded me up with an over 10 hour day, doing this knowing I've been advised by my spinal doc that I had to quit the job now.

I quit the job on a dime. No way was I going to deal with the pain fallout. I later found out two other drivers quit the same day. The company has gone from 35 drivers, to 14. She's fucking up her business.

And now she's dragging her heels on paying me my last pay ($250)....heh, and while I'd like to bust my gut on her, I'm not going to. I'm being congenial, for now.

I'm going to make one more attempt to get the money, by Friday, or I'm going to go to whatever ABC agency it is that takes care of employers doing this....and she is doing it out of spite, not because they don't have the money to pay their employees.

I would think she should know me better than this. We've had many conversations, and she very well knows I don't shrink before purported "authority."

That's really awesome.

My grandmother does the same, she 84 and she gets up, showers and gets dressed even though she doesn't have to, we all pay her Bill's but she always is dressed with a clean house and something good to eat on the stove when we drop by.

My favorite is her cabbage, I know, its wierd but I love cabbage with a little salt and pepper.

Delicious.

You've started a new phase of life and I wish you the very best of blessings in it!

It's just....well, everything - at least in my life - is in a state of flux. There's energy moving all over the place in me, so to speak. I'm feeling like I need to let all that's happened in the last two weeks kinda get a chance to settle down and gel....and well, circumstances have changed for me, and that requires adjustment....like adjusting to having nothing better to do with my day besides trying to hold on to my hippy skippy happy sanity....harhar.

Oh I get you, my routine is what keeps me from going mad in this world, but I try to be adaptable as well.

You will do well, you're a smart lady.

Do you have pets?

They help me stay grounded, taking care of them.

It's a small service, but its service.

I love feeding them and seeing them happy.
A coward dies a thousand times, but the valiant need taste of death but once.

Fear cuts deeper than swords.

Re: DOOM BREAK: Let's have a good ole fashioned coffee klatch!
The song, Shining Star, from the Seinfeld video, was my prom theme song.

You know, youse guyses, we can't let all this get us so far down we can't get back up again. I know some of youse guyses are managing okay with all this, but some are not.

Remember who you are as you rise up every morning, and nothing else, okay?....hugs

I just got my very last paycheck!.....woohoo

I got some Chinese food for me and my son and his lady, it was yummy, and now we're smoking a big fattie!....rastabanan

We're now laughing about how I might become unhinged while taking the Chantix, which just arrived to my front door.....harhar, they tell me they'll love me from afar, with no judgement. If I need something from a store, they said I can just throw money out the front door and they'll take care of it. Taking this kind of medicine gets freaky for me....but if it works, I'll take being a freak for three months.

Heh, on a good day I can be hell on wheels in a store, trippin' on Chantix?.....billlaugh

Oh my, but my life is going to become very interesting....chuckle
