Anonymous Coward User ID: 79234724 United States 01/19/2021 11:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | With all due respect, at least part of your advice stinks. A man who works at a local restaurant where I sometimes eat, and who I knew very casually, had a severe case of gout, which I happened to hear him discussing with one of the places’s delivery drivers while paying my bill. The pain was so bad he could hardly stand, which his job required he do for many hours a day. I asked him if he’d ever tried taking tart cherry juice, as I knew that it’s sometimes useful in cases of gout, and can increase the benefit of prescribed gout medicine by as much as 75%, according to some sources. He said he was willing to try it, and I wished him luck. A week later, I went to the restaurant again, and before I could sit down this same man rushed out and almost hugged me! He had purchased a quart of tart cherry juice the very day I spoke with him, and started taking a glass with supper. He said that within 3 days, every bit of pain was gone from his gout and he could stand upright for ten hours with no problem at all. If I had followed your #3, #4 and #5, he’d almost certainly still be suffering. Of course, unlike many people who complain about their chronic pain, he actually wanted to be rid of it. |

Well, Im glad that helped him...Nothing, nor advice is the end all be all. Mearly guides. Of course there will be the people who WANT thier disability for attention, $$, whatever. However they are the few. Most suffer, not only from pain, but people who are just plain assholes. And to that I say...Karma. “In finding balance between lies and trust there will never be a better source than to speak your truth or make your peace some other way.” ~Sully Erna Many that live deserve death. People in chronic pain cannot be the solution of their problems as the level that generated a problem cannot generate the solution. I've seen so countless times. in fact if you are honest all of those 20 things are meant to solve the problem. Refusing is meant to perpetuate it |

Refusing is meant to perpetuate it Wow, your a bitter man..I see quite the opposite. in my case, I have a condition that has no cure. I can only manage it the best I can with what we know will help. I did not choose to be married to my condition, nor would i ever refuse anything to make it better. I am always doing research on things to make my life better and more bearable. The point is sometimes there is no remedy. Therefore perpetuation is irrelevant. But I do see your point, there are THOSE people out there. I would give my left nut to go back to work and be a contributing member of our society, rather than feeling like a drain on it. Most people cant understand that. I almost killed myself a few years back...But I stuck it out..I stick it out every fucking soul sucking day. I suppose now, I'm doing better and have considered a small job somewhere...however I am too busy being a dad and supporting my Wife in my current role to do so. Financial decisions my wife and I made long ago have allowed me to live the life I live, which sometimes isn't much, but I'm here for my family..and family is what is important in my life....its everything. “In finding balance between lies and trust there will never be a better source than to speak your truth or make your peace some other way.” ~Sully Erna Many that live deserve death. I think they largely hit the nail on the head. Chronic pain for many past injuries for example, is self induced. That is the bulk of our nation’s chronic pain epidemic. A loop that people themselves create. Years into chronic pain, they identify with it so closely that they don’t want to hear anybody suggest anything that might remove it from them or that suggests they themselves have caused it. |

Then, as they're looking down at what Im doing, I give them one hell of an almighty slap to the head. "Fuck what did you do that for!" they usually scream. "To take your mind off the pain, it worked right?" I say. "Well yeah, but.." they say, then: Boom! I punch them again with an uppercut left, just to drive the point home. |
