Can you trust yourself?

Trust no one. It's my motto and I had it long before the X-Files came along. While I'll listen to just about everything regardless of the source, I research everything on my own and so should everyone else. We can't necessarily trust the main stream media but there are times they do report facts. Similarly, we should never trust online sources or anyone's claims regardless of who they are without verifying things on our own. Sure, a lot of the times facts do who up online before the mainstream media gets them but that doesn't mean we should assume everything posted online is fact. Most of the internet is tabloid journalism just like a lot of cable news is. If we can't verify facts then we shouldn't be believing these things to be true regardless of the source even if that source is a politician or a celebrity we think we can trust. Like it or not, this is the state of affairs now and we have to deal with it.

That is easier said than done, because that is against the human nature, which is to trust, to believe that what the other person says is true. That is mostly the case in "primitive" tribal societies.

Regarding religion, consider that no other people, not the different Asian tribes, not the different African tribes, not the Oceanian tribes and New World tribes came up with such sophisticated stories about religion as whites or Caucasians.
