What are 30k armed soldiers protecting?

It sure is puzzling, but these are NG troops, not battle hardened warriors. 2 weeks ago, they were working jobs, celebrating the holidays, and spending time with friends and family. I just cannot believe that these soldiers have the capability to harm American citizens. If they do, then my faith in this country will be shaken to the core!
All there is to do now is pray to the lord above that we get through the next few weeks peacefully!

Two days ago DC was scanned for radiation from the skies. Hours later they warned the DCNG for improvised explosives.

They did not find what they were looking for and did their best to notify the troops without alarming people.

Well, it sure was not the joint Chiefs of Staff, who a couple of days ago released a joint statement confirming that Biden would be appointed president on January 20. Any move by some or all of the National Guard would be violating this declaration, putting the US military in conflict with whoever ordered the National Guard into Washington.
