all 50 states Capitol bldgs have been threatened as well as the US Capitol and the Inauguration. Inaugurations are always a secure event and this year there's obvious elevated risks due to election outcome emotions.

And this .. there is intel that reveals "capture and assassinate elected officials" is making its way around the dark corners of the internet.

IMO it's an all hands on deck approach, otherwise we'd lose a great day in the sun for future Inaugurations.

It'd be nice to see more JFK-quality Presidents inaugurated for sure!

Given this we need 30K troops to protect a virtual ceremony? (Really)

Here is where it gets interesting.

On 911 we were attacked, as we are told. We then invaded multiple countries over the last 20 years, and we can go way back to WW1 if needed.

The House has underground bunkers, and escape routes. (Why the drama?)

A simple secure double fence, like at a prison, and 1K troops as well as some air support could defend the Capitol.

In addition, all these Reps, and Senators have to go home - Mostly unprotected.
