What are 30k armed soldiers protecting?

What's hilarious is supposedly Trump is the most hated man in America right now, but was still able to go to the border pretty much unannounced with no help from the City of Alamo and didn't need 30k troops to protect him. Yet they need 30k troops in just the Capitol for a virtual inauguration. That honestly says all that needs to be said.

I don't see much discussion here about the Chinese military bases being constructed in the Bahamas and Jamaica.

They have information (true or false) that protesters will attack the Capitol and try to take it over or damage, before or during the inauguration. The number of soldiers is big to send the message, you won't succeed.
