User ID: 30200695 United States 01/10/2021 10:18 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My husband just received an urgent text from one of his clients. The text said that someone "in the know" informed them that our power grid would be taken down tomorrow. Assumes this will have an effect on cell phones and internet as well. Quoting: **Watcher** We are in Western North Carolina. Not sure if this will happen or only affect our area or wider. That is all he was told. Just to be safe, fill your gas tanks and bath tubs (for drinking/flushing water). If nothing happens, at least you will have gas and can always just drain your tubs. Stay safe out there and I pray this information does not come to pass. I picked a bad day to put 50 eggs in my incubator. Thx |

I also store it in a mini aluminum garbage can in a cardboard box with a Raspberry Pi and some financial documents on a USB) I pulled out my CBs and linears. Fired them up. Even the old crystal based Johnson worked. I live in rural area so expected no one to be talking. |

User ID: 78895011 United States 01/10/2021 10:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Most cell sites have backup power. Quoting: Swamprat Larger sites have generators. All sites that I know of, have battery backup. Cell towers and large antenna arrays on rooftops, billboards, water towers, etc. have battery back-up, but only really good for 8 hours or so. Very few sites have generator back-up, and most of those generators are diesel powered and have no fuel storage on site. Those generators would need to be refueled every 24 hours or so...and as most towers have multiple carriers on them (AT&T, Verizon, etc.), not every carrier on that site will have its own generator (each carrier pulls their own independent power.) Any widespread power outage lasting more than half a day, consider your mobile phone essentially worthless (unless it’s a sat phone.) “A person is smart, people are stupid.” “Nobody knows until everybody knows” |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 75993659 Canada 01/10/2021 10:29 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Where is Trump now? Quoting: Biden is not my President Where is he scheduled to be on Tuesday? Which State's power grid is not connected to the National grid? Most of the power on the east coast is coming from the Niagara Falls power generation stations. If they take that offline it will throw most of the east coast of the USA and Canada into darkness. |

(OP) User ID: 78547034 United States 01/10/2021 10:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Thanks for all of the replies! As for timing, no time was given. Just tomorrow's date. And I don't know if my husband's client has a reliable source or not. But given recent events, we are planning like it's legit. If nothing happens, we needed to top off anyway. Funny thing happened this morning. We woke up to no power. I thought for sure this was IT! Turns out a squirrel shorted out our transformer and got electrocuted (poor thing). It took the electric company minutes to fix once they arrived. Hope this event wasn't a foreshadow of things to come but nothing would surprise me! If you don't know Jesus, call out to Him in your hour of need! If you do, help those around you become acquainted with Him. He will be our only protection from what will transpire when no one can communicate! "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."
