Did president Trump actually sign the insurrection act

I was wondering how Trump could command so much trust if he was controlled by the PTB, given his apparent limitations.
I think they realised there was a huge awakening and a desire to be rid of this system.
So they wrote his speeches as if they had come from the leader of such a movement.
That way he said what we wanted to hear in a way we wanted to hear it.

On balance, I think it is much more likely that he is benefitting THEM not us.
This has allowed them to get everything ready while we were distracted.
All we can do now is get ready.
