With officials blaming a mysterious “plunge in the frequency,” conspiracy theories quickly proliferated. "A countrywide blackout has been caused by a sudden plunge in the frequency in the power transmission system," Pakistani power minister Omar Ayub Khan wrote on Twitter, shortly after the country was plunged into darkness before midnight on Saturday. Pakistanis soon shared pictures of their blacked out cities and towns, with the starry night sky clearly visible above without the usual light pollution." How did they share there photographs cell towers need electricity?? Hmm makes you wonder...a selective power down I'd say.. Cell towers have battery backup. In a matter of time, we'll soon know---me thinks... The timing is on. Global optics are that the USA is transitioning to a new china style technocracy and appearing weakened in the world. Quoting: Lost Angel [link to www.state.gov (secure)] Why is Pakistan important to the US? Pakistan is a very important 'ally' for the US for various strategic, geopolitical and security reasons. And Pakistan uses this importance to its advantage, especially the military, to get more financial and technological aid. Pakistan is bounded by Iran to the west, Afghanistan to the northwest and north, China to the northeast, and India to the east and southeast. The coast of the Arabian Sea forms its southern border. Now that's an interesting angle, as Iran provides electricity to Pakistan! I would be looking into the effects on the Iranian grid. Along the lines of my thoughts too! That's awesome..that means we both are thinking alike or we both share in the same insanity. |

Quoting: Trio Plus lots of active Paki nuke plant reactors, I assume, with cooling pumps now running on emergency backup...tic toc. Eek that's right! I think they have like half a dozen! I dont understand anything about how electrical grid systems work. But it seems odd that an entire country would all be connected to the same source. Can anyone shed more light on what this is all about or how it could happen? Sure, no prob. Power is generated by rotating genertors. They turn at a certain speed and have a certain number of poles, which together set the power frequency. 3600 rpm 2 pol for example gives you 60 Hz. If the load becomes too great for the rotating generation online, the frequency drops, just like an engine slows down under load. There are circuit protections on voltage and frequency that will trip if things go out of bounds. Those create a domino effect and can take down an entire grid. You just need to go back and reset all the breakers and re-energize the lines. Might take half a day to do all that for a country that has its act together. I don't know Pakistan, might take them longer. Anyway, the power is generated at 13.8 kv typically, then transformed up to transmission voltage (usually 138 kV or higher in the US). Over there it is probably 50 Hz and 12kV or something. Not sure. Once the power gets to the local towns, it is stepped back down to safe voltages for households. No, whoever said it turned to DC is just lacking some knowledge. No way that can happen. (although India does transmit their power at high voltage DC, but this is to thwart their people from stealing electricity from the power lines. Not so easy to deal with 1 megavolt DC for the home gamer ! :) The US has 3 major grids, and some subdivisions. Anonymous Coward User ID: 79871436 United States 01/09/2021 05:19 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I find it interesting that with everything else going on an entire country, a nuclear power, goes dark. It might not matter to many but i find it curious for certain. With all the chatter of "cyber pandemics" and "blackouts" this raises my eyebrow. Yeah fair enough. Honestly I find it interesting enough too. Just bored today |

Quoting: Endless Speck Things are happening, saw something about US dropping all trade restrictions they had on Taiwan just now. Meaning they gained alot of freedom if I understand it right. Havent confirmed but saw a photo. This will probably anger China. "...a mysterious “plunge in the frequency” Now that is fascinating. Pakistan = 200+ million people. Test run? Seems really plausible. |
