The science behind mutations is known and dominated. The nucleotides fail to form new chains, so the new viruses can degenerate or succeed. When they succeed there is a new strain. Thousands of strains occur in all those infected, but only a few manage to multiply and pass on to other hosts. If the accident is successful then what happens in Manaus happens.
