You only have to be a veteran to be a patriot. Being a politician or belonging to a party doesn’t do anything.

It's not the party but the person. Ron Paul became Republican to run. There are a lot of good things Democrats do for privacy and other anti-crony corporatism, etc. See Tulsi wanting to repeal the Patriot Act. A Democrat CO US Rep Neguse introduced an antitrust bill to protect whistleblowers that was signed by Trump. I thought the guy was a walking Obama wannabe, which maybe he is, but you never know where you will be impressed. I've even liked some of the things CO Governor Polis has done, also when he was in congress, though he's overboard with covid tyranny and other overreach.
