There is NO way out for the vast majority unfortunately, and more are joining their ranks with the same future.

Addiction,,,,,drugs,,,,that one wrong turn will ruin your life with little chance of recovery.

The vast majority are homeless not because of job loss or bad financial decisions.

The TONS of drugs flowing into America are the blame and not one single leader of this country wants to stop it.

Everyone of these people were once a young child with a bright future living in the greatest country on Gods green earth and that one day they took their first puff or pill ended it.

Pretty much. So people go to these places in droves. There are people who are truly down and out but the free loaders make it worse.

So sad.

Or at least some friends to help get them on their feet and get a job.

Look at the family situation. Many come from broken and abusive ones.

“Safe Sleep Policy” This policy allows an individual or a group of up to six people to camp on a city sidewalk or city right of way overnight from 9:00 PM until 7:00 AM. The camps must then be dismantled. Unfortunately there isn’t enough shelters/beds and high paying jobs.

Please, please do not give homeless people money. It keeps them on the streets that much longer.

Want to help? Learn the local ministries and charities that offer assistance and point people there. The organizations are eager to help in meaningful ways.

its even worse than this. most arent this nice. dude probably got yelled at and threatened all day long while doing that. there are TONS of rows of tents and garbage just like that all over town. all over next to homes and in parks and basically all along the freeway. ive never seen anything like it. its like the tenderloin in san fran is spreading up to portland. and like i said so many have psychosis at this point that theyre legit dangerous. that city is GONE.

This stuff is not hard to figure out. Why didn’t we have these problems in the 1930s 1940s and 1950s? Because we didn’t put up with bullshit back then. We executed violent criminals or kept them imprisoned. Most homeless are criminal scum.

Um, no, I’m homeless in Portland. I’m a veteran, and have spent most my life inspecting and testing F-18s. When the testing facility didn’t need us anymore because of the pandemic, they threw us out like garbage. My unemployment claim has been denied because they said “I quit my job”, they are capitalist scum, they used us for what they needed and threw us to the side when they were done.

It’s easy to just call them lazy or drug addicts. Things are usually more complicated than that.

I’ve seen that same “domino effect” occur in my extended family. My step uncle had everything going for him. He had a successful business, a beautiful property on a lake, a hard working, loyal wife and a beautiful daughter. They threw great big parties and took us out on all their toys....boating, quading, horseback riding.

They both got into a bad car accident, they both needed major surgeries and they both were prescribed highly addictive pain killers. She did fine, he lost everything. Last I heard he’s in the city with some cracked out girlfriend and pretty much homeless. Not everyone is cut out to avoid or beat addiction.

Thing is Portland has always been a bad place as far as homelessness goes. This is nothing new for them.

Seattle however is insane, Seattle’s homeless has exploded.

So sad we have been reduced to this.

The one homeless dude accepting free clothing has bling around his neck. Only in America.

Along with liberal judges ruling that homeless people have rights too. Judges handing down legal edicts that anti-loitering laws are meanie-meanie, big-killjoy, and so even if homeless encampments are causing chaos and despair on public sidewalks, hey, just tolerate them.

Then, too, a lot of social activists demand that the so-called insane asylums of the past are no longer acceptable in the 21st century. Which means that the crazies of society have no where to turn to but being out in makeshift open-air insane asylums.

America is generally way more socially, politically liberal than ever before in its history. Which is the reason it's a much more wonderful, beautiful society.

Think of liberalism/leftism as a political form of Covid-19.

None of the other homeless people I see are causing “chaos” in Portland, complete horse shit.
