In Mexico they speak Spanish, because a few hundred years ago Spain conquered Mexico whose people were indigenous Americans. The Spanish settled with the locals, and today the people of Mexico are mostly a mix of Spanish and Indian though there are various pure indigenous people still.

Mexico's main language is Spanish though most of the people do not have much Spanish DNA. People in Spain are white Europeans whose traditional language is Spanish. It’s why you have some Spanish who are typically lighter skinned, lighter hair, lighter eyes, thinner & taller; and other Spanish who are darker skinned, darker hair, darker eyes, curvier & shorter.

It’s how there can be Pau Gasol and Antonio Banderas. Both Spanish.

Buzzfeed writer Natasha Jokic wrote, "Looking through Hilaria's tweets, it does seem like she's gone to great lengths to never explicitly say that she's Spanish – but she has gotten pretty close." An article from The Things mentioned that Baldwin's cousin stated that her visits to Spain were for vacations only and that she is "zero percent Spanish". Former classmates have alleged she had "much paler skin and blonde hair" before she changed her name from Hillary to Hilaria. Some Twitter users and members of the press compared Baldwin to Rachel Dolezal, an American woman who identifies as "black" despite having white parents. In March 2021, The Atlantic listed Baldwin as an "identity hoaxer" along with Rachel Dolezal and Jessica Krug.
