POLL: Have you ever lost the senses of TASTE or SMELL during a COLD or FLU, or other NON-COVID disease?

What if we always lost taste and smell during a cold or flu, and never noticed?

I think this virus isn’t completely new. It was not long after the presidential election when Obama got his second term (Late January 2013) that I had the worst virus I have ever had in my life. Kids got it too but much less severe. I’ll never forget it. I was sick for three weeks. I even went to ER When it first hit because it felt like my head was going to explode and I had fever of 103. They tested me for flu and strep, etc...all negative. They commented on how red my face was. Then they sent me home and I later developed shortness of breath, dizziness, and lost my sense of smell/taste for weeks after that.. i don’t mean I was too stuffy to smell things. I mean it was gone except a faint, weird odor that I can’t explain. Everything was the same distorted scent or nothing at all. It also affected my hearing for awhile. I lost 15-20 pounds and even quit smoking simply because i was too weak to bother and nothing had any taste. And I’ll tell you, I was never the same after that. Recurring shingles, overreactive immune system. My take on it? It was a predecessor of this virus, maybe a test run.

I’ve been exposed a few times to COVID19 and haven’t gotten it. I’m hoping I never will.

Did you have any vaccine (if you can recall) a few days, weeks or even months, before getting this bad virus? Just curious if there could be a link sometimes.
