What is it about? Tried watching it, fell asleep after 15 to 20 minutes. Does anything actually happen in the whole movie?

After wasting like half an hour on looking for something new to watch, I just watched some LOTR, decent old movie is better even the fifth time, compared to the contemporary crap.

Try not to concentrate your hate on these "people". They have been taken over a long time ago.

It explains why a lot of recent movies etc. seem like they are done by computers with no "soul"

Re: "The Midnight SKY" (boo) and good movies recommended by GLPers
I was forced to watch this last night and it was even worse than I expected. Full of every libtard trope imaginable and the most unforgivable was the shielding of China.

One of the characters is saying how the ship's command, in an attempt to communicate with Earth "broke every protocol - China, India....Russia"

He says China and India quickly and in a neutral tone, then pauses before saying Russia with a notably negative tone, implying that they were the last resort and the arch enemy.

IOW, China influencing what we see in movies to make us believe that Russia is the one we should be worried about, not China. Meanwhile, they swoop in and "eat our lunch" as we're all hypnotized by the propaganda. I could almost hear Joementia and his "They're not bad folks, folks..."

On top of all the propaganda, and an actress that looked just like Ilhan Omar, it was simply a bad movie. But when the whole point of "movies" nowadays is to deliver propaganda, quality and talent seem to be afterthoughts, if thoughts at all.

I don't understand bigotry especially from Bible believing Christians as the Song of Solomon, the most erotic and romantic book of the Bible is based on an interethnic marriage.

It is however incredible boring for Hollyweird to lecture us as we best knw our personal likes and dislikes and this based on skin color is absurd and it is not like a skin color then create common attributes. Do you presume all white people are the same? This is way imbeciles think as somewhite people are knuckle draggers and some are geniuses. Some are as ugly as sin and some are impossibly lovely. Some are insane and some are perfectly well adjusted and calm. I don't much commonality across skin color.

Only a buffoon marries from a subset if thieves, domestic abusers, rapists, and murderers. Maybe there is no justice due to economics, but I doubt the veracity of that statement in the USA. A lady is seven more likely to get beat up by a thuggish African American man, but the presumption that all African American men have that quality is not logical.

Bigots answer: don't marry an African American (a silly term as that ethnicity is linked across a timespan of 160 years and Africa is a continent of hundreds of ethncities).

Hollyweird answer: marry an African-American if you are a Euro-American. This is equally brainless. Why? What advantage is there?

Propaganda is propaganda and absurd.

You marry who you want to marry as Hollyweird's advice is equivalent to the advice of an Grand Imperial Wizard...ie worthless.

Turned it off after the inevitable race mixing romance scene.

2 black astronauts. Not a single asain, Indian or Mexican, but 2 blacks.

Really weird music that didn't match the scenes.

SYNOPSIS:

GEORGE CLUNNIES DAUGHTER IZ HAVING a half black baby!

iamwith
Idol1
sheep
 Quoting: black astronauts mmmkay 76494803

they will be the majority soon 1dunno1
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 61665994

Yes, there was that and also a second, more subtle white/black pairing with the middle aged guy and the young, Ilhan Omar look alike. He had come to see her as his daughter and felt so strongly that he went on a suicide mission to try to return her body to Earth at the end. So yes, the movie was like watching commercials, where every coupling has to be white and black.

It was also very daughter/female oriented. Clooney's daughter, Clooney's other daughter (don't want to reveal the main spoiler), Ilhan Omar as the white guy's daughter, and the revelation that Clooney's daughter was also carrying a girl baby. I expected Kathleen Kennedy to pop out and yell "The future is female! Make that, the future is black female!"

If you presume Englishmen thought Scots or Irish were the same race, then you know about American history or British history. And bizarrely enough, Englishmen hated Germans and even Scandanavians when both were responsible for much of England's history. William the Conquerer was held in high esteem YET he is a descendant of Rollo and a Norman mother thus was of Viking and French ancestry as the Gauls. So bizarrely enough, Englishmen hated both those people and did not feel they were the same race.

This idea of white purity is ahistorical balderdash.

I am so sorry I watched it, just premiered on Netflix.

It's like Gravity, only even more depressing and more self-important.

Not one likeable character. Horrible soundtrack for maximum gloom--too slow single cello or piano in creepy minor chords.

No beauty because presumably all green stuff and animals are dead.

You can't breathe the air--"Or you will die if you remove your mask!!"

Clooney directs and stars and wants us maybe to all die in our masks. What a dick.

I was bored so landed on that movie to watch last night. I watched it for about half an hour and started yelling at the TV at how stupid the movie was. (I'm in a bad mood lately and allll alone, so a bit nuts)

Anyway..I started FFing to land on any part that had action looking content and it was more sappy, canned hollywood drivel with sets that were not consistent with being IN FUCKING SPACE.
I FF some more and landed on the first ice rocks storm that damaged the ridiculous space ship. When they started gearing up to go "for the walk" outside and were showcasing the "black girl" carrying the implied "mulatto" baby as she was morning sickness puking, I said to myself; Ahh, she is gonna die". I WAS CORRECT.

I sat out the whole action scene until she died..which made me cry because anything about dying makes me cry right now because my doggie died a few weeks ago.

Anyway..I continued FFing in hopes of still getting to see some kind of innovative sci fi movie scene..but NAH..

I ff until credits started rolling..and ff through the credits completely and was astonished at how damn long the credits scrolled..AS IF the movie had any significance what so ever..

OH...the scene when the box they found to camp out in over night that was on the ice of a frozen lake and then fell through the ice and his old liver damaged ass went for a swim was SO STUPID and was extra stupid when it was resolved in the scene of them sitting LIKE WET DOGS on THE ICE IN SUB ZERO TEMPS and she was zipping up his parka!

COME ON...I would have at least been satisfied to see both his legs freeze off and the tip of little girls nose..I MEAN..COME ON..

This movie summed up a good chunk of the quality of life in 2020.

You are not great because of your skin color. Most of the people of your skin color don't give a shit about you. They have no commonality with you, though they may vaguely claim it on patriotic holidays and pagan holidays like today.

There are a miniscule amount of altruists who generally like everyone and they tend to be Bible believing Christians. They help the suffering regardless of even being thanked. Why? Because of Matthew 24.

Any greatness you possess is based on if you actually are a Christian steward as the Elohim commanded in the garden of Eden. Personal achievement is worthless and satanic as ut is about rebellion and pride.

If you even have an inkling of who Jesus Christ was as the Messiah, then you will immediately stop caring about pride and greatness based on personal achievment and idiotic things like skin color. That is as dumb as thinking beauty equates to blonde hair and blue eyes.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78818590

I watched the movie and though they don't come out and say it, I got the impression that is was global warming caused by man (of course).

At the end, Clooney explains to the ship that there's no place to safely land on Earth because "we didn't take very good care of it while you were gone".

Actually, I think they were trying to leave it open to either interpretation, nuclear annihilation or global warming, or both. The sum it up by saying "I don't have all the details, but there was a mistake...."

That was an uninteresting movie based on a thin story. But the view of the Earth from space, with all the huge pillars of smoke reaching above the atmosphere, was the most apocalyptic I have ever seen.

If you enjoy post-apocalyptic films r tv shows, why not watch the BBC Survivors remake in 2008? It was pretty good and any political correctness was tolerable. The tough guy who made the hard choices was a regular bloke on the wrong side of the law,but acted heroically in a tight knit group.
[link to en.m.wikipedia.org (secure)]

I thoroughly enjoyed every episode. Charactrers were normal but complicated people. They didn't act strangely. They did considerate things for each other. They madehuge mistakes and were terribly naive and had to toughen up.

You should look the quiet earth website too as they review all post-apcalyptic films and so some you missed have reviews there.
