...WHY IS THIS THREAD STILL UP?!....ALL I WANTED WAS AN EMPTY BOX OF 'CHICKLETS'....AND I DIDN'T EVEN GET THAT!!!!!

UH,CAPMAN ;D.....
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74219452

I don't think we've been introduced yet, CAPMAN, but I enjoy your posts all the time. Sorry about the box. The mail is still screwed up! Do people still eat chicklets?
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

THANK YOU FOR THE 'OBSERVATIONS'. IT'S NICE TO GET NOTICED.
NOT SURE WHAT U MEAN ABOUT THE BOX AND THE MAIL. I RECALL YOUR AVATAR NAME. CHICKLETS NO LONGER EXIST DUE TO MY CLASS
ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM..... I HAD TO GO TO RE-HAB FOR THEM IN '73, '77, '79, '81 AND '83 WHEN I GRADUATED HIGH SCHOOL.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74219452

You mentioned the box of chicklets and the only way I know to get you one would be to mail it.

I see I'm a couple of years older than you. I wondered where that gum went! LOL

Good luck with whatever your mission is! Merry Christmas!

Happy update time!!!! We took the road trip to meet Toledo Chris and his roommate! 2 very nice young men that are having a bit of hard luck, like so many this year. We had a nice little visit and will stay in touch. I'm looking forward to it!

While I'm here, thanks everyone for the mail prayers! I felt silly about it this morning, but maybe it'll work for everyone else expecting mail, too. We had a bill in the mail when we got home from out of state. First real mail in over a week! They could've kept that one!! LoL

All in all, a VERY good day!
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

This is awesome news. I am so glad that you got to meet Chris and his roommate. You went above and beyond on this one and are so special for doing that.

No prayer request is too silly for God my friend. I know as a grandmother myself, I hurt when I just think my grandbabies may be hurt. hugs

Keeping you and Chris in and his roommate in my prayers.

Good Post!

I'm not sure if I should even ask this favor, it seems so frivolous compared to all the trouble everyone has these days. I'm just going to put it out there and anyone that is so inclined, I would appreciate just a little prayer. I know this is kind of silly, sorry for that, but it's my worry.

I mailed my grandbabies their Christmas just before I found out about the post office backups. I would have kept them until it cleared if I'd have known how bad it really is. They are supposed to be delivered on Monday, but all I care is that they get them before Christmas or even just after. We haven't seen any of them for exactly a year and they're growing SO quickly.

It's funny, I mailed the clothes and winter gear out early and they have that. It's the fun stuff that might get held up. They're little enough that it's a big deal to them.

So, if y'all have a sec, send a kind thought or a little prayer. Please?
 Quoting: Texan Buckeye

Of course you have my prayers!!! Wanting things to go right for our kids & grandkids is never a frivolous prayer! We haven't talked for a while, but you were a bright spot on GLP for me a while back. Have missed chatting. Wishing you & yours a very Merry Christmas. And praying that those gifts arrive in time!

Re: Christmas Giveaway Thread for those in need 2020. It's happening.. again! (Final Update status on P.31)
True story from tonight...

Our town cancelled the annual Santa parade a long time ago. They still did the downtown decorations, but no activities. But I kept seeing a sign on our County Pavilion about a Christmas parade, tonight, and "parking lot". Couldn't find any info online, but saw some vehicles gathering about 4, so drove in to get the info. All we had to do was drive through, never leave our cars, the displays would be stationary. And they would have the 'parade' from 6 to 9.

We went back about 7, and couldn't believe - the line of cars waiting to parade through was over a mile long! We inched along, and it took nearly an hour to get to the displays. It wasn't a massive display, but several county departments were represented as well as a doz or more private businesses that had "floats" - all with lights, and trees, and some even had people handing out candy. And yes, Santa and Mrs CLaus were on one 'float'. All of this for no charge. Just spreading the Christmas cheer by thinking out of the box and putting forth some time and a little money. When we left, the line behind us was probably over a mile long. I teared up at how much it meant to have some people work to keep a Christmas tradition alive in spite of all the covid restrictions.

This thread, and the parade tonight, have been the 2 high points of my Christmas cheer this year.

You guys are all so amazing! And some have been way more than generous. I am very encouraged at how good people can actually be. It's been a blessing to have had even a small part in this.

Aw guys, I really didn't do much. Like I posted a couple of days ago, I haven't had good luck working through paypal and I'm just not as good at computers as the rest of y'all. I didn't have access years ago to the internet and a computer like most of you. Old school is easier for me. I did try to order a Kroger e-gift card, but it wouldn't go through for some reason. I have NO idea why. I didn't have a problem buying a hard card for the same amount the next day. I'm thinking it was what one of our chaplains would call "a divine appointment". We'll see.

No money to spare but a couple of full membership upgrades and prayers when asked for.

Sometimes it is hard to sit back and not be able to help others in need.

Sometimes it is hard to put aside pessimism that the people are really in need.

Sometimes it is hard to have trust in others.

Sometimes it is easier to just believe in the goodness of people, to remember there really are good souls out there and to remember most of all God ways are not always the way WE would have done it or seen it happen.

It's also hard to ask for help when you need it, especially emotionally. For those struggling at this time of year - reach out to any one of us and we will offer a shoulder, a prayer and just chatting.

Re: Christmas Giveaway Thread for those in need 2020. It's happening.. again! (Final Update status on P.31)

I cannot seem to get enough extra food together to end the problem, so need food of an extra amount to stop this starvation trip I seem to be on. I feel I will be safe if I can get back 20 lbs. of the 119 which suddenly vanished, much to my surprise and shock. I am 5 feet 6 at 100 [bs, and weak as a kitten. and hungry as a horse.
We were given 2 boxes of our senior meals at TanksGiving
week delivery because there would be no delivery the following week. I was so hungry I ate two of the little tv dinners a day and got 15 lbs to stay on my bones, but the following week I lost all of that and back to weak and hungry again.

Do you have access to a Walmart for grocery pickup or delivery? I can offer you a Walmart e-gift card to be delivered today. I would need your email address. I'm sorry that I can't send money. :)
 Quoting: Serenity Now

If you have PayPal I be glad to send you something. So let me know or email me at [email protected]

And like Serenity and Tiger say, someone from here in your area, a grocery pick up or delivery would also be a good idea. I know our crew on here is very creative and determined in finding a solution for you. So be sure to give them info (email and location) as well to be able to help you the fastest way they can. So stay in touch here the coming hours if you can.

Further, I am no doctor, but losing that much in such a short time also does not sound right at all, so you might also need to go see the doctor and have a check up.

But first, let's get you some food!! hugs

Mizz Fantacy, can you please get back to us? A bit worried that you didn't reply anymore after what you wrote. hugs

Let's find a solution! hf

Re: Christmas Giveaway Thread for those in need 2020. It's happening.. again! (Final Update status on P.31)
Latest Update:

Another 5 requests fulfilled today. We are now at 137 requests filled, including 12 Amazon orders and that does not include the incredible help that the Angel Elves sent directly to requests in the thread. All in all I think we were able to help way over 140 people / families.

Still waiting for two email replies on Amazon requests:

Bright Side (request for skateboard kid and another kid)
Christy P. (request about Lego and paintball)

If you read this, please check your emails, so we can see what still can be done. Amazon delivery times will also get extended in the coming days. Maybe we can still do something, but we need to act fast. So please respond if you can.

We are now officially out of funds and actually overshot it a bit, which is usual with the GiveAway. We normally always have a bit of flexibility to do one or two more, so no problem at all. I am glad we were able to help so many people.

We will return with this GiveAway next year for sure and even though we already had an EPIC EVENT this year, maybe we make it an even bigger event in 2021, even though I hope with all my heart it will be much smaller, because that would mean that we as society and community will be in a much better shape in many aspects of the word, health wise, job wise, mentally and financially.

So let's go from the true believe that 2021 will be OUR year! hf

A BIG THANK YOU to all of you in this thread, in whatever way you contributed. Words are not enough to tell you what I experienced these past days, doing this GiveAway with you. It was the best natural high ever!

And to those who struggle, know that you are NEVER alone. As dark as it may be, there is always a light shining somewhere. Life for sure is not always easy, sometimes just plain sucks for a longer time, but as long as we keep the faith in ourselves and each other, we can move the highest mountains. You have shown that by never giving up and reaching out. Never feel embarrassed or ashamed to reach out.

And certainly don't blame yourself for what has happened to you. Often things happen that are completely out of our hands. 2020 has been such a year for sure and I have the utmost respect for how you handled things. Never give up. Things WILL get better!!!

Much love, Merry Christmas and God Bless all of you! hf
