I'm going to save that. I won't eat it spicy but I could use smoked sausage or kielbasa in it.

Tonight for dinner was potato au' gratin, chicken and a jar of 29 year old green beans, canned in 94' I discovered in the pantry.

Green beans were a little bland. Should have had a bit more sodium added when canned.

Maybe I should have just opened one of the recent store bought ones.

I saved it too, yum!

No just goes to show canned goods last. You can always add salt.

Baby's eating a can of green beans with her dinner. We're eating cold chicken. Woody made a pack of smoked pork chops that I can't have. I made air fried taters and some zucchini I had in the freezer. I just fried it up in some coconut oil and garlic bits.

Nef got/installed our new wood burning stove. I love it! Rocco does too lol. You can see him laying in front of it on the rug. Nice and warm. He did a great job on it!

Nice! Woody always wanted a fireplace. Our buddy is looking at a 50 acre property really close. It would be nice. Woody wants to build us a log cabin.

Butters showed up a little late. He demanded his loving in he middle of my meal. He is so spoiled! Does anyone else stop eating to love their fur baby??

It really wood, but I think it would take a really long time. There's plenty of trees on the property. Were just dreaming. He hadn't even heard back from the realtor yet.

It seems as if it is only eaten in Northern Europe, but here further south they do not have it either.

Chicory also known as endive, chicory is a forced crop, grown in complete darkness, which accounts for its blanched white, yellow-tipped leaves. It has a distinctive, cigar-like shape, about 12cm long, and the crisp leaves have a mildly bitter flavour.


This is how you make it with ham and cheese.

If you want to eat it, it is easy to prepare. You remove the outer leaves, cut off a piece of the back and then cook them whole for 20 minutes. (The thick ones a little longer)
When they are ready, let them drain and then roll them into a slice of ham. Place them next to each other in the baking dish and add a slice of cheese to each. You can sprinkle some fine breadcrumbs on top to prevent the cheese from melting off. Place it under the grill for 6 to 7 minutes and then it is ready.

Tried a new recipe for Chicken and Mushroom Bourguignon, and it was a little too heavy on the red wine, so I reduced it down, added a can of beef consomme and a bouillon cube and it was much richer.

Served on toasted rosemary bread.

Haha, mine know I'm off limits during my feeding time and they tread lightly. Otherwise I'm there to serve their every need.

ohhhh, I get it now! We call that 'Endive' and chicory is a roadside plant with blue flowers. and you can roast the roots and grind them up to make a coffee like beverage.

Congrats on the Woodstove Simple!! I love mine but it is out of commission until I get a repair. Getting any contractor to do a job around here is nearly impossible. I don't know if they are just all busy or what is going on.

I already had a flank steak marinating so we had that, mashed potatoes and pepper sauce, brussel sprouts, and a kale salad that I made from a bunch of leftovers in the veggie drawer (some cooked beets, a little red onion, half an apple,some pecans, dressed with olive oil, spicy herbed cider vinegar, and a little honey, salt and pepper).

It was really good.

Yup, very much so! They are cute together. They cuddle a lot and also play fight a lot. I think he is a great thing for Blissy. She's very shy and he's very wild. They balance each other...sometimes haha!
