Food with Attitude!

Tuna casserole made with egg noodles, peas, cheddar. I used to use cream 9f chicken or mushroom soup for the sauce. Since I can't use that now, I just thinned out sour cream with milk. I did need to put a little salt, but it's good,

We had to stay indoors today...by 2 pm our number was 460 on the airnow.gov website. And now it is down to 187 thank goodness!

I found the trick is to make sure you roll them thin. Like almost see thru.

I've tried to cook thicker ones thinking it would be chewy, but they get hard.

Well, I'm glad it cleared up some for you. I keep seeing more and more areas complaining about smoke. It just seems odd. I guess I need to look up those threads,

Thanks for the tip. He said in this video to roll them to the thickness of a coin (penny, I think). I had to order a rolling pin.

I'm using this recipe unless you can suggest something else. It's only 1 carb.

Have you ever used psycillium husk before. I tried it once for pancakes I think. They were awful. Maybe this recipe is better. I wouldn't even think to use guar gum. I see it on ingredient list, but didn't know you could buy it for home use.

These probably cook differently so you may need them thicker like a coin.

The animals are all acting weird. Everything is moving in slow motion, and there are hardly any birds moving around. The swallows were scooping water out of the pond and the frogs are silent. Also I had a deer encounter and talked to two other people who did as well. I was walking the dogs in the backyard and almost bumped into a doe grazing just over a ridge. I'm guessing she couldn't smell me because of the smoke. And thankfully my dogs didn't smell her and the grass was tall enough only I could see her. I said 'Um, excuse me, ma'am? Ma'am, could you please move along so these dogs don't rip my arm out of the socket?' and she just stood there, eating grass and looking at me like I was the stupid one. Then I waved my hand at her (it looks like a white tail flashing) and she moved along. I gave her a good head start then kept walking and the dogs didn't even seem to pick up her scent. Crazy! Someone else told me a deer walked up to them in their backyard. I suspect they can't smell us.

That's awful. We had to deal with a neighbor last year who was burning everything and it was so bad the fire department had to come and put it out, but I can't imagine what it's like for you. It's probably getting into your house and smelling by now, not to mention your lungs. I feel bad for the animals.

And Avenger, our house is actually doing pretty well. It was cool enough to run the furnace a bit and I think that helps to clean the air some. I use really good filters and change them a lot.

All the air purifiers were sold out and hopefully to the people who really need them..new babies and elderly and those with COPD, etc. We are all just taking it slow and easy. Littlest was so mad at me that I wouldn't let her go on a 20 mile bike trail.

My friend in Idaho has been through many fires and she told me it is normal for the animals to act so weirdly. So I am trusting they are doing what they need to. But that part is really making me edgy.

I remember 2015, not that we've not had a few months of skies like these since, but that year it lasted 6-7 months.

Same here, that's why I posted the with and without smoke pictures. I saw multiple old folks shopping with oxygen tanks on a caddy. I had to return home from two miles out on the way shopping for eye drops and an Albuterol Sulfate inhaler so I could breath. They said to keep inside with your air conditioning on or if in your car to put it on recirc to stop it from bringing in the contaminated air.

Both make sense because the evaporator coils would remove the smoke particles from the air passing by them and I can confirm it worked perfectly in the truck.

They recommended all stay inside or if outside to use an N95 or P100 mask.

And in my case add having no water on top of this tonight.

Sorry, I fell asleep! I didn't sleep good the last 2 nights so I'll probably go back out again soon, at least I hope!

Anyhow, I do cook that way, but this be 8 actually measure.

3 c flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1/3 c olive oil
About 1 c warm water

I try to be careful with the water so I didn't have to knead in toe much extra flour. I think it originally said divide into 16 pieces. I'm lazy, so I've figured out that I can make 10 large (about 12 inches). Some times I just cut one in half.

The year we had fires, we used a better filter for the air conditioner. It was one that was pleated, like for allergies. It seemed to help keep the house from smelling like smoke.

It's a terrible pic of me but a lovely one of her. She wins, it's a keeper!

That is unsettling when animals don't act normal. I could send you a filter if you will tell me what size it takes?

Does it have an option to just run the fan? We ran ours that way quite a bit. It ran the power bill up some, but we needed to breathe.

It happens during wildfire season here. Due to the sheer size of BC, we don't always get a smokey period when the news says 'massive blazes Province wide.
