Sorry to post another twitter, but couldn't help but think of Para & Woody's squirrels.

This has reminded me that my backyard squirrels enjoyed the large bowl of water more than food in the summer.

My apologies for the rapid-fire posts. Yesterday's meals were not photo-worthy; tuna salad on a brioche bun, chicken salad from the container, sliced tomatoes, stir-fry cup-o-noodles with an added bullion cube for twice the liquid, all throughout the day in no specific order or regard to time, Mrs. snacked on crackers and cheese.

I received an email that I have been awarded damages from the multi-million dollar class-action suit over Lithium-Ion batteries!! How shall I spend my share?!

Ding dong the witch mouse is dead!
I'm so proud of my kitty. I heard a commotion in the kitchen and he walked into the den with the mouse in his mouth. He threw it threed feet in the air a few times then ate it all gone, even the tail! I praised him for being such a good boy!!

Dinner today was leftover pork loin, the last brined potato, and a salad with tomatoes, lettuce, croutons, parmesan cheese, and cranberries which were quite a contrast against the tomatoes and croutons with creaming Caesar dressing.

That sucks!! How far away are the fires?

Years ago, we had really bad fires that burned parts of the Okefenokees. They even had to shut down the highway (95) because the flames jumped the road.

Chest freezers are a pain in the ass, but I'm so thankful for ours! We bought it in 2010 ish when the kids were still home. I needed to be able to buy the big packs of meat when I was feeding 4 kids.

And the fires are in Canada. It's crazy though.

This was last night's dinner..zucchini, peppers, and onions with a little bit of andouille sausage and a generous sprinkle of red pepper flakes. It was delicious!

Re: Food with Attitude!
Found my dog a new home. He is a Labrodane and quit large now.

(I was informed he would be more the size of a Catahoula, which is much smaller, like my other dog that passed on, but he only had like .2% of that breed in him.)

I took him to his new home today. He now has about half an acre fenced he can run free on. No more chain for him, to keep him from chasing deer or bothering the neighbors.

The guy that took him was looking for a companion for his older German Shepard to pal around with. His new master was also a veterinary assistant, so is familiar with animals and is able to care for his occasional seizures too, much better than I can.

I just couldn't keep him here on a chain all the time or crammed into my tiny home. He needs to be free to run and play. I let him go out of kindness to him. He will be missed. He really is a gentle giant.

Great dog, great personality, but he was just the wrong fit for my living situation. I still have the smaller coyote looking dog in the photo below. She has been with me for about 6 years.

We discussed the possibility of me visiting from time to time. We both thought that reasonable. So, I might have a new friend too.

The black and white dog in the pic below is him as a pup about 40lb. He is about 120lb now, maybe 130lb.

I think his new home and master will be good for him after he settles in.

He and the other dog took to each other right away. I also gave away about 300.00 worth of other items that I purchased, like an elk antler, other toys and food items and a raised dog bed. Also transferred over all of his vet paperwork.

I wish I could have kept him, but glad he found a new home with better care.

:PIKE2::Pike.:

Here is his breed info.

We were talking about pizza last night. Today, my daughter said they decided they wanted to order pizza after we get home tomorrow. I can't have that so we're having our pizza tonight.

I made a small tuna casserole also. Tomorrow, I can just pop it back in the oven to warm. I know I won't feel like cooking after being gone all day. I'm sure we'll be starving, too.

Why does swimming make you so hungry? I mean I know it's exercise, but it makes me way hungrier than if i was doing something else.

Thanks.. Thought I would share.

He really is a great dog. I am happy for him, even if sad also.

He gets more freedom.....I have reduced spending and less worry, so, it's a win/win as I see it. I will admit, it's kinda difficult to let him go, since I have had him since a pup. We did have a bond, but I think a few days will resolve that for both him and me. I am just happy he went to a good home.

On the way home I stopped by where my son works and said hi. Ordered a Reuben Sandwich and some curly fries for dinner and had them use his employee discount... heh.

All in all, it was a good day.

Since I am going dark....I thought I would mention that I found Angel's contact info from a prior communication, if she is still there. I may possibly send her a package with some small token gifts she can forward to some of you, if I budget the time. I have multiples I bought in bulk and can part with and help pay for the shipping, so it's no big deal.

Thanks for being good people.

Ah geez, looks like a smoke Nor'easter! Wed and Thursday look even worse for us. It's just so eerie and it is so dry here that I worry we will have our own fires.
Also, I am still really weirded out by the fact that last night at 11pm when I walked my dog, it was absolutely silent. On a summer night in the country..no bugs, no frogs (and there's a pond in my backyard), no owls or birds, no foxes, not even a dog barking in the distance. I just stood there for a good 10 minutes and it felt like when there is a snowstorm and every thing is muffled.
Then I came in and went to bed and a car alarm went off..TWICE. None of my neighbors are super close so I laid there and wondered if I should go back out and figure out where it was and call the cops but it was only on for a minute or two each time so I didn't call.
