Taco night here..I made mine into a salad.
lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, green onions, carrots, and bell pepper from the garden. Some avocado, black beans, chicken, a little cheese, sour cream, and a few chips on top.

This is the absolute best shredded chicken for tacos recipe we have found. The citrus really makes it shine!

Pomegranate shows neuroprotective effects against Alzheimer's disease (AD) in several reported animal studies.

Therefore, urolithins are the possible brain absorbable compounds which contribute to pomegranate's anti-AD effects warranting further in vivo studies on these compounds.

Oh gosh! I love pomegranates!! But we usually only get them around Christmas time here. I did have this amazing pomegranate chicken stew that my guitar teacher made me - he is Pakistani and amazing on the Oud too. But I think of them as winter treats.

tonite was new potatoes and carrots and onions from the garden with chicken thighs and some 'Ozark' seasoning all roasted in the oven til nice and tender. It was delicious. I love new potatoes in their jackets with a little olive oil, garlic, and fresh rosemary...but littlest hates the skins. I made her peel all those little guys though. chuckle

We had a big green salad to go with it. I am sure going to be sad when the lettuce is done..but we have the fall crop still to go. One year I made it all the way to Thanksgiving with our own lettuce!

Hope everyone is having a good Monday..Happiest of Birthdays to Osmium's mama!

Russian Pomegranate Tree
The best Northern Pomegranates tree that is guaranteed to survive temperatures of Northern States including Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio. It flowers later therefore you don't have to worry about the late freezes. The tree produces a large bright red color fruit that is larger than a grapefruit. It can be eaten fresh or used for juices. The Pomegranate tree is self pollinating, but the fruit size is increased and more pomegranates are produced if another pomegranate tree is present for pollination. The tree is also heat tolerant which makes it a great choice for southern planters looking for a fruit tree that can withstand the region's heat and humidity. A mature tree can produce between 90 to 100 pounds of fruit a year.

6 reasons you’re craving salt

A salty hankering often comes from a combination of factors, says Czerwony. “You have to weigh out everything. If it’s a short-term craving, it could be based on how you were feeling and the situation at the time. But if you always need salt, then talk to your doctor. You may have an underlying condition that you need to take care of.”

Czerwony lists six possible reasons why you may have salt on the brain:

1. Stress
Stress eating has everything to do with hormone levels. When your body is under stress, it releases cortisol and other hormones. Studies have linked too much cortisol to food cravings.

2. Lack of sleep
Much like stress, lack of sleep affects your hormones — and salt cravings:

3. Premenstrual syndrome
Research shows that women with PMS experience hormone changes. “As a result, they crave more sweet or salty foods, especially around their periods,” notes Czerwony.

4. Exercise
The more you exercise, the more you sweat. Too much sweating reduces sodium levels in your body. “Your body responds by upping your desire for salt.”

5. Addison’s disease
Addison’s disease, or adrenal insufficiency, is a rare condition where the body does not produce enough of certain hormones, including cortisol. These hormones control the balance of salt and fluids in the body. “The body may end up craving salt because it can’t retain it as well.”

6. Boredom
“A lot of times, eating is just something to do to pass the time,” says Czerwony. “On top of that, salty foods are convenient. They’re usually pre-made, so you don’t have to cook. It’s almost too easy to satisfy those cravings.”

I made a pork loin & baby limas in the crockpot. I probably shouldn't have cooked it this way as it had virtually no fat on it. It came out tender, but a little dry.

I had planned on making gravy with the broth anyway so no biggie. My ho made gravy came out with a few lumps tonight, but still tasty. With Pepperidge farms stuffing.

Edit: I had to replace j-ice with broth or the post was a no go.

I doubt they will be obvious about it, so if you buy snacks - READ the labels!!!

"How to Cook a Mythical Creature"

In eastern Thuringia and western Saxony , Mutzbraten is a fist-sized piece of meat from the shoulder or back of the pig that is seasoned with salt , pepper and marjoram , marinated and cooked in birch wood smoke on so-called Mutzbraten stands. Bread , sauerkraut and mustard are usually served with this, whereas consumption of ketchup is frowned upon.

The Mutzbraten is mainly known around Schmölln and Altenburg in East Thuringia and in the Thuringian woodland . In Altenburg dialect, the word "Mutz" refers to an animal without a tail, here the pig. Especially in the wood country, the "Mutz" is jokingly called as the supplier of the meat for the Mutzbraten, an "egg-laying wool milk pig, which is similar in character to the Bavarian Wolperdingern " [1] . The mythical creature is also settled between pig, cow and bison [2] . The recipe, which was only passed on orally for a long time as a local, has now become historically and culinary verifiable [3] .

Re: Food with Attitude!
Sorry for my absence yesterday. We had a terrible day!!

It was our stay at home day to do chores. Mr reached up in the top of the closet in our hall to put up a towel...and fire ants came falling out on him!!

They were all in our blankets, extra pillows, sheets, towels, etc. Below that we're shelves full of medicines, soap, you name it. In the bottom, I keep some preps like candles, life straws. Anyhow, Mr had to unload everything out of that closet.

I'm a little allergic to them. One bite on me swells up like a 50 cent piece so I stayed back equipped with a spray bottle of vinegar.

So we checked the closet in Baby's room and there were more in the top of that one! So more blankets, etc came out of that one. He was carrying them straight out and dumping them on the porch. Of course, it was like a fucking typhoon outside blowing and raining.

I just washed up the pile out there. I washed it all in vinegar.

I thought they were maybe coming in for the cat food bags I had stored in there. There weren't in there though.

It happened about 5 pm so of course the office was closed. Today the maintenance man said they had come in other apts too, probably getting out of the heat or because we've had a lot of rain.

We found tiny holes in the corners of the closet ceiling where they were coming in. He put some poison up there, but we have to go buy some Combat gel to put in the hole.

They're going to have pest control out tomorrow. I bet the attic is full of them.

I have an issue with bugs, let's call it PTSD from my childhood. I was freaking out and ended up taking an anti anxiety meds.

I couldn't cook so Mr dug out the Totinos I keep for Baby and that was dinner.
