Re: Food with Attitude!
Ok.

Back on topic.

I baked three salmon fillet's and several packs of asparagus the other night for dinner on Father's day, with a side of rice.

There also was a delicious fruit tray.

There are 3 of us dads residing in close proximity and residence currently.

All but the rice was a gift from the mother of my brother's children, meant to be a father's day meal. (Thank you sissy law/ex. Blessing's too you!)hf

The Asparagus turned out delicious! Some of the best I have ever had.

So did the Salmon, (although I didn't use my recipe entirely). There was a bottle of some type of salmon glaze included that we used to spice it, meant to be cooked on.

I coated half the spears in butter, salt and pepper and sprinkled with lemon. Just oil and seasoning on the other half with lemon bits dispersed on top of each.

High raves from those who ate.

My brother took a pic; perhaps I will see if he will share it with me to post up.

It was a pleasant meal. cool2

I just covered the steak with Peruvian Grilling sauce & baked it covered at 250 for a few hours. Then uncovered at 300 to brown it. The sauce at the store is about $5. It's really good on chicken, sweet & spicy.

There is not really a good substitute for honey.....

Best sweetener imo.

Too bad honey bees are in jeopardy...

This looks like it might be a good alternative if honey isn't in the market though.

Sounded good until I saw it has Erythritol added. That gives me terrible stomach cramps. I use a liquid stevia rather than the packets as they usually contain that, too.

Also be aware that some of the sugar alcohols are toxic to dogs..xylitol ( aka birch sugar) is extremely so. Interestingly it causes super low blood sugar because it tricks their pancreas into dumping insulin but the cells can't metabolize the sugar so they suffer an insulin overdose. Sorbitol can cause liver failure in higher doses ( oddly found in cosmetic products and paintballs).
Just something to be aware of if you share food with a pet or they occasionally counter surf.

So I buried my best canine friend this morning. penguin

He had two massive back to back seizures that took him about 10am.

I am ok, but obviously sad.

Oh, I'm sorry! After the video you posted, it looked like he might be ok for a while.

I know how it is to lose a friend like that. I will be grieving with you. hf
 Quoting: Paranoiaaaaa

Again, Thanks Para and every one else.

I was hoping....

We had a good day together yesterday.

He went outside all on his own and palled around with me for awhile. Marked his spots, layed on the grass and let me rub his tummy. Ate his food, drank water, was happy.

I thought he might pull through, but he kept having at least one seizure a day and those really knocked him out. I kinda expected I would lose him, but held out hope.

Two big ones in a short time, finally took him, he had enough.

After the last one, his breathing became shallow and then he gave over.

I buried him up the hill. Will need to go back and finish covering him this evening when it's cooler and add another layer of large rock to keep predators from digging him up.

Such a powerful meme.

Brought a tear to my eye like a spear to the heart.

Makes me feel old.....and vulnerable, thinking about life.

It's just so short, but it's always going on.

Thanks for the reflection. Good to touch base and face reality.

Good warning! I don't have dogs right now, but my daughter does. They were feeding one of them grapes for a while, then found out they shouldn't have been!

The dalmatian is a tough one. She has eaten do many things bad for her & still here. She has figured out how to get to things pushed far back on the counter. She's eaten muffins, bread, chocolate bars, some of the plastic wrappers. My daughter pulled an entire paper towel out of her butt once. I think she ate it because it has bacon greaser on it. blink

Anymore, I only use liquid stevia. I have seen articles saying that artificial sweeteners are actually worse for you sugar.

I'm on my way out to the park now, but I'll try to find what I've read later & post it.

That is very true; two different endocrinologists are whom told me that diabetic people must NEVER use any of those artificial sweeteners or consume any product that contains them.

An idiot family member gave me a diet soda in a glass and damn near killed me behind the low glucose event I was experiencing before they gave me that.

I cut them out of my life and will never acknowledge them again.

They so angered me by that act of abject stupidity and countless other actions that I researched the law on desecration of a corpse.

When they die I will write "I AM AN ASSHOLE" on their forehead as they lie in their funeral home coffin with a large tip black sharpie marker.

I can only be fined $100 for that most enjoyable misdemeanor.

Well I was able to get a ton of things done around the house today while on the clock, even though work was very busy. It's really nice having the energy to do both, which rarely happens lol. Wednesday is my work-from-home day. So it's a late breakfast for dinner. I'm making bacon and scrambled eggs again for me and the kiddo. Nef is working.

Check out the supermoon tonight! :)

Here is one article on the bad side effects of artificial sweeteners. I have decided it's better to have a little sugar when you want it. Once I got used to it, now somethings are just way too sweet for me. I guess you have to retrain your taste buds?
