I’m a landlord and my tenants are filthy poor scumbags. I work hard to provide them with housing while they pay down my mortgage and make me rich. They need to get up off their lazy asses and get back to work for me. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79752729 Its a tough situation because you have to give equal consideration to property owners who have mortgages against these dwellings. The only think keeping them afloat is the moratorium on foreclosures. It doesn't matter what side of the coin you look at, either the tenants get evicted, or the property owner gets foreclosed on and the tenants evicted anyway. No problem Biden will nationalize renter's and put landlords on lists. Nationalizing renters is the very definition of communism. At least people have a roof over their heads. So, you are a communist then? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73217930 United States 12/13/2020 02:07 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | No way will the eviction moratoriums end at the end of the year. They will be extended. Only question will be for how long. The problem with extending them is that the same argument will always apply and the longer it extended the worse the problem gets. If the reason for extending the moratoriums is to prevent a wave of evictions that wave only gets bigger the longer it gets extended. The excuse being used is to prevent the spread of COVID. What happens when vaccines are widely available and they can't use that as an excuse? Also none of these moratoriums get rid of the balance owed by the tenants and the balance only increases as time goes on. What happens when these tenants do get evicted and no one will rent to them because they haven't paid rent in 9 months? Most landlords will not rent to you if you owe a previous landlord. The government will have to step in and require landlords to not consider nonpayment of rent as part of the application process. At that point landlords really have no way of approving tenants and they are still required follow fair housing and essentially you'll have to rent to anyone who wants your home. Landlords will get tired of having their rights taken away and will sell their rentals and there will be less rental homes available. This combined with the eventual housing market turn and things get interesting. None of these eviction moratoriums are legal either. Its only a matter of time until these moratoriums have to hold up in court. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73233940 They're done. Will not be extended. |

This totally screws property owners, many who depend on passive income from their rentals. Sure they can't get foreclosed on, but their cash flow from the units is zero. They still have to maintain the units and as far as I know pay the property tax on it. |

Its just not being taken into consideration by the politicians making these moratoriums. I represent hundreds of rental owners in this situation. Any help for tenants should be extended should be extended to owners but it's not. That's why I say many will get tired of their rights being taken away and will get out of owning property they have no control over. |

Do not let THEREALDONDODDA's low opinion(s) of you and/or your thread's content get you down. THEREALDONDODDA will eventually get what is coming to them in real life sooner or later with their negative attitude about these many tens of millions of Americans permanently becoming homeless and can never get another job as so long as they live. I strongly suspect this is the actual flash point or otherwise ignition source for an all out civil war in America. You may not need to imagine what will happen to you, OP, should you wind up in a similar or the same boat as these tens of millions doomed Americans for all I know. Heck, earlier last week, maybe on the 3rd I forgot when exactly, there was what I strongly suspect to been a homeless family living in their mid-sized SUV. The back of their SUV was literally jam packed of what clothing and other important possessions they had left. They had to air up at least two of their tires on the passenger side of their SUV. They had to haphazardly park in front of the free air service pump. Looking at their tires on the driver side it really looked to me as though they were about ready to pop. I have been figuring since then if there are many tens of millions of Americans who are are forced to become permanently homeless by early next month/year... there will be literally millions of children's corpses littering many roadways and streets throughout America as well as adult corpses as well. Alot of families and adults will be way too desperate living in their vehicles with up to all of their possessions they have left loaded into their vehicles to be willing to give up their vehicles to the cops. Out where I live the cops WILL confiscate your vehicle if they see that it is full of what they consider to be garbage. That has happened to two people I once knew in real life already over the last seven or so years now. With many Americans armed it will not take much of anything or anything to provoke these newly made permanently homeless Americans to go into deadly shootouts with the cops. Soon thereafter cops throughout America will just aggressively confront you with their gun(s) drawn during "routine" traffic stops at the very least. You will be forced to either submit and let your vehicle and possessions be forever stolen from you and you go to jail or private prison for the newly minted top tier federal felony of being poor and/or otherwise homeless, or you and your entire family will be shot to death by the cops.
