If the earth is a globe, how is it possible that a photograph of the Alps in its splendor can be taken from the Pyrenees?

Light does not travel in a straight line through all
mediums. You can observe this with a simple glass of water and a pencil.

Your misinterpreting the calculator stupid.

If you put in 15000 feet as eye height, you get a horizon of 240 kms.

That means you can see the tops of mountains 15000 feet tall and 480km away.

If the other mountains are 11000 feet tall and 470km away. You fail flatard.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79281006

That's so cute!

You can't do 'feet' and 'km' on that calculator.

Try again... Jeremy.

Flat earth is a fake conspiracy theory put out by the government to discredit real conspiracy theories in the minds of the general population.

This is how it works:

MAN 1: Hey did you hear that the US government was involved in the Syrian war and actually created, armed, and funded ISIS simplyto overthrow the government there?

MAN 2: No, I hadn't heard that.

MAN 1: Sure i have tons of documented evidence. But I'd like to talk about flat earth first.

MAN 2: Instantly thinks there is no way that ISIS was created by the US government because flat earth is so retarded.

It is that simple. All "conspiracy theories" get lumped in with crap like flat earth "conspiracy" and they are all immediately discounted.

Tallest mountain in the Alps is almost 16,000 feet

At that distance , 48,000 feet should be obscured by curvature , according to the calculator

Flat
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78274336

Only if you're observing from zero feet. You're not. Observer height matters.
 Quoting: LHP598

Calculate it. The picture gives all the heights. Still should be obscured by at least 1000 meters. Also... the picture looks totally flat all the way out to the mountains.
 Quoting: Chuckles

1000 meters is far less than the previously claimed 48,000 feet. Just a bit of refraction would make that possible.

So you think you could see 3-4 degrees of curvature across rough terrain? Cool story bro.

OP is a fucking idiot. There are points in the Pyrenees that are nearly 10,000 feet in elevation. Looking at mountains that are even higher at 200 miles is nothing.

I live in Nevada--a mountain state. To gain a vantage point to see 100 miles is no big deal. There are some special lookout points in various parks in Nevada, CA, and Utah where you can easily see far beyond 100 miles--although even on a clear day you need a telescope to get the full effect.

No, OP is brilliant. He is showing conclusively with modern mathematics that the Alps should not be visible from the point in the Pyrenees where the photograph was taken. And by the way, it’s 275 miles not 200... Anyway, the fact that you can see 100 miles in Nevada from a high vantage point does not change the fact that those mountains in the op shouldn’t be visible on a globe earth...

I just posted a thread about this this morning that was deleted. I wonder why? Maybe it’s because the moderators here are helping to cover up one of the greatest deceptions in modern history: ball earth.

Anyway, the Alps are over 275 miles from the Pyrenees. Based on the curvature calculation for Earth, the Alps should be completely obscured by the curvature, yet they are visible.

Here is a curvature calculator:

I live in a rural part of Oregon, in the foothills of the coast range. On a clear day, from a hill behind my house, I can see Mt. Hood (11250 ft), Mt. St. Helens (8366 ft) and Ranier (14411 ft).

In a straight line, Mt St Helens is about 110 miles northeast of my location, while Ranier is about 65 miles north of Mt. St. Helens. From my vantage point, Mt St Helens is significantly higher than Ranier. Why do you thing that would be?

So what keeps this flat earth from snapping into pieces when there are earthquakes. Why hasn't the oceans eroded a hole out the bottom? Glaciers move why haven't they fallen of the edge?

The earth is hundreds if not thousands of miles deep...so it doesn’t snap into pieces during earthquakes. The oceans don’t erode a hole in the bottom because it is so deep. The edge of earth is Antarctica...and there is no place for glaciers to fall of into since earth is enclosed with a dome...
