They had dual citizenship with the Empire of Japan and the USA. All they had to do was to take an oath to the USA. Nearly all camps were closed in 1942--not even being open a year. There was one that was open until 1944 with malcontents that thought there right to be enemies of the USA and to walk free--dummies. Again, all it took was an oath for freedom.

BTW, the initial roundup had good reason. My family lived in San Diego CA--and I got the real scoop of what was happening then. Years later I became friends with a fellow who was a young Naval Officer at the time--on the west coast. Espionage was real, radio transmissions of military/naval intel were being sent to Japan--BY JAPANESE! There were those in the Japanese community that was committed to stopping the treason, but they could not. Another little factor on the west coast and elsewhere was that there was a growing threat to the safety of Japanese people--and actually anyone that looked like them. For their own protection, they had to be removed. Pretending that this was some baseless, racist action is total bullshit.

I wish people would read about the internment camps. The term concentration camp is insulting--and a lie. The only wrong was where the Japanese lost real property due to their internment--they should have been fully compensated much earlier.
