Re: What are you all doing for Thanksgiving?
My husband and I are having fun with it this year. We do not celebrate the holidays and do spontaneous all year long.

However this year the CDC seems to think that they can control my Thanksgiving. So for this Thanksgiving I'll be doing everything they say not to do.

that's right I'm getting on a flight and I'm traveling to see my family. it's been a while since I've been back at my home state so I've invited all of my friends even my high school friends from back in the day.

the CDC recently announced that we should not be participating in singing or alcohol consumption. Naturally, we have a playlist set and enough alcohol to get us blacked out through Christmas.

The more the CDC comes out with the more we do.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Re: What are you all doing for Thanksgiving?
Unfortunately, at the ripe age of mid twenties, both my parents have passed and I never really had a relationship with one side of my distant family because of my dads bad actions, and the other side of my family is Jehovah witness, which I'm not close too anyways.

My friends have all but abandoned me for not being a bleeding heart leftist. I wouldn't be surprised if some of them have put me on a "list" of sorts. So I'll sit here and watch YouTube videos about the times and hopefully my child's mother will bring me some food from her lovely hispanic family.

We broke up and they said I can still come by. Im contemplating it, but I've learned to be alone and I'm not exactly the most jolly person during the holidays.

But I hope you all have a good holiday and enjoy what could be the last Thanksgiving ever.

I’m eating pizza, drinking Pinot noir and doing a church service.

I’m also having marinated beets, scallops with basil, gluten free brownie bites, and chocolate pistachio cranberry squares.

I might also bake a sweet potato.

I'll be visiting with family and who knows what else. Ideally, I'd be with a girlfriend, but she lives too far away.

My family and I are going to celebrate Thanksgiving despite the COVID restriction suggestions. We have been together all along and are celebrating Thanksgiving together. In lieu of hard times, everyone is bringing a little something to make a feast.

We are going to have Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Grean Bean Artichoke Casserole, Green Bean Onion Casserole, Potatoes Au Gratin, Cauliflower Au Gratin, Shrimp Stuffed Merlitons, Carrot Cake, Pumpkin Pie and Cranberry sauce.

My heart goes out to those GLP'ers who cannot afford to celebrate it or will be celebrating alone. hugs

What is your story and what is on your menu?

:Turkey:

Staying home by myself and the internet and wtaching netflix or amazon movies

Might be eating chips and leftover turkey meat that came from a deli.

No main meal...nobody over....not calling anybody...but might post some things online.

I'm not going outside but I might get a hot bath.

Looking forward to when Trump is in prison, the looney bin or 6 feet under.

When that happens...that will be my new thanksgiving day celebrated from now on with steak dinners, bread rolls, salad and red wine.

Until then....thanksgiving 2020 sucks

I have family that thinks like you do regarding politics. Personally, I don't let it get to me. We all come together for holidays and are just thankful to be together, and we do not discuss anything political.

Don't let politics get you down and hope you have a good Thansgiving.

The happy people talking about happy plans with family can bite me! Have fun, go party it up! But DON’T feel the need to rub it in everyone’s face! I will be depressed as usual and can’t wait for all the holidays to be over and done with! Never have I had a memorable holiday in my life. So please keep it to yourself!

Green Bean and Artichoke Casserole

2 Cans French style green beans
3 Cans Artichoke hearts - preferably Reese's 1/4 hearts
1 small can of Italian bread crumbs 15 oz size(almost the whole thing, but not quite...I use about 10-12 oz)
Some good olive oil - enough to cover bottom of the pan about 1/4 inch
Some shredded parmesan and Romano cheese (fresh, not can)
1 large onion chopped, or 2 small onions
1 tsp chopped garlic

Prepare the artichokes by removing any tough outer leaves. Medium coarse, chop the artichoke hearts and set aside.
Fry the chopped onions and garlic in the olive oil until soft,
then add the Italian bread crumbs and continue cooking until the bread crumbs get a little brown.
Put the green beans and prepared artichoke hearts in a large glass pan.
Mix the onion / bread crumb mixture with the bean / artichoke mixture, then add the cheese.
Bake at 375 degrees for about 1/2 hour or until it gets a bit brown on top.
