Simple Question: Who fact checks the fact checkers?
Serious question.

I posted the video to FB that we have all seen of Biden talking about the yuge voter fraud scheme they have built and used in 2016.

I got this sent to me:

Quoting here: Fact check: Clip of Biden taken out of context to portray him as plotting a voter fraud scheme.

Shared on Facebook and Instagram days leading up to the 2020 U.S. general election, posts show a clip of Joe Biden saying, “We have put together I think the most extensive and inclusive voter fraud organization in the history of American politics.” The posts falsely ask if the video shows the Democratic presidential candidate “admit(ting) to voter fraud.” It was a slip of the tongue - Biden was describing the voter protection program his campaign has launched in anticipation of potential legal fights over the outcome of the Nov. 3 election against President Donald Trump.

BUT I KNOW WHAT I HEARD! ARE THEY TELLING ME I DID NOT HEAR WHAT I HEARD????????

Distortions and outright lies by politicians and pundits have become so common that major news outlets like the Associated Press, CNN, BBC, Fox News, and Washington Post routinely assign journalists and fact-checkers to verify claims made during stump speeches and press briefings. The motivation to uncover falsehoods and misleading statements taken out of context is laudable. But when it comes to real-world complexities, the trouble is that people often see different things when looking at the same event, a phenomenon repeatedly documented by psychologists.

Laboratory studies reveal that, when shown a video of a group of protesters, people see either a peaceful protest or an unruly mob blocking pedestrian access, depending on their sociopolitical beliefs. The world outside the lab shows similar biased perception: For example, 68 percent of Republicans consider the videotaped demonstrations in Portland, Ore., Kenosha, Wisc., and New York City to be riots, versus only 30 percent of Democrats, according to a Fox News poll released in September. Journalists and fact-checkers are human beings subject to the same psychological biases as everyone else—and their analyses of what constitute “facts” is affected by their own political and ideological values, resulting in what psychologists term selective perception.

Consider the claim that during an interview with the progressive activist Ady Barkan, Joe Biden stated he favors defunding the police. This allegation has been dismissed as taken out of context and consequently false by some journalists and fact-checkers (e.g., Politifact’s Jon Greenberg), and CNN’s Facts First argued that Biden had denied he favored defunding in comments that were not included in the published interview with Barkan. However, others argued Biden’s statement about supporting “redirecting” funds to other agencies was a clear acknowledgement of his support of decreased funding for police.

Who Is Fact Checking The Fact Checkers?

Fake News: Newspaper fact checkers were once a rarity. Now they're in a position to determine what people can read online, despite their own checkered past. So, who keeps the fact checkers honest?

In the past, fact checkers tended to focus mainly on debunking urban myths or clearly false claims made by political leaders. But lately, fact checkers have appointed themselves as arbiters of the credibility of news outlets. And now, giant tech companies like Google and Facebook have enlisted these "experts" to weed out "fake news."

If a fact-checking outfit deems a story not entirely true, for example, Facebook can limit its reach on its News Feed. Google now includes a "fact check" box on its main search results page to help "people make more informed judgments."

The problem is that fact checkers themselves can be unreliable sources for what's true or not. Fact checkers make their own mistakes. They sometimes change ratings based on new information. Or they make determinations based on arbitrary standards that can change from one review to the next.

Case in point: PolitiFact called a 2012 Mitt Romney campaign ad its "lie of the year" for a statement about Jeeps being made in China. PolitiFact admitted that the "lie" in the ad was actually the "literal truth."

Seems to me this would not be a problem if there was no bias in the media and reporters actually did their jobs!

Sticking with the Latin theme... "Cui bono?" Who benefits?
The media can give 2 you-know-whats about the citizens. They are slaves to ad revenue and web eyeballs. Media was supposed to be the 'fourth estate' that kept the 3 branches of govt in check but that has not been the case for a long time (or ever). Difference today is that citizens have more ability to communicate with each other and search things for themselves (albeit hobbled by big tech modifying the search algos)

Yes my dad is a die hard Trump fan but hates his Tweeting and then I explained to him that if he did not Tweet we would never know what was really happening as MSM would not report it.
