We like the excuse to be lazy. Some people wanted to do Secret Santa at work. I told them, "Bah Humbug, no, not interested" in my return response. Seems I'm not the only one. I thought, I have been cooped up for months not doing anything but going to work, coming home, and rushing through the grocery store. No shopping at all except on-line for clothes/shoes, birthdays, household items... I thought to myself, do I really want to drive all the way to either Walmart 45 min away or Gainesville (1+ hour away) just to get some cheap little Secret Santa gifts along with the cards and wrapping paper and all that goes with it? Nope.

I would have jumped at the chance any other year, but COVID has made me lazy and selfish.

Yeah, if you are not deemed an "essential worker" it's like a free vacation. I get sick of relatives rubbing it in my face that they get these long paid vacations while I end up slaving away like normal counting the days to the next holiday so I can get a long weekend.

Really? Going to SUCK for them BIG time when they cant even say bye at the hospital death bed..but nothing says "I love you" like waving to grandma thru the window as she takes her last gasp of air. While the fat ass nurse is twerking in the hallway.

There are people where I work that get a Covid test every time they get the sniffles so they can stay home until they get the results without getting into trouble. Many are using Covid for a vacation. We make jokes about hoping we get a cold so we can get a Covid vacation. That's the only way many of us are able to get any time off to rest.

Ya here in Tucson the locals are not only enforcing the restrictions on everybody themselves, they're calling for more. The media is sounding the alarms louder and louder nonstop and it's reached the point were they're telling us we're heading for a crisis because of trumps incompetence and failure to obey the demands of democrats and Dr. Fauci. This article is just one drop in the bucket of the nonstop media campaign to scare the hell out of everyone and drive them to panic. The local media is REALLY running a full court press right now (or a hail mary hahahahaha, bastards)

An idea occurred to me with those responding positively to the restrictions with what I’m interpreting is a sense of responsibility to the welfare of others.

Honest question. If you were accused of giving someone the virus, even if you thought they were wrong, would you feel horrified? Shame? Would you feel like wanting the earth to open up and swallow you up and die?

I wouldn’t. I would feel like someone had crossed a serious boundary and put a responsibility on me that wasn’t mine. I expect other adults to do what is appropriate for themselves given their own circumstances and for those in their care. I just assume that as an aspect of being a free human on this earth.

I wonder if this is the feelings of most people on this thread - that it’s a matter of appropriate boundaries and self-responsibility. And that shame isn’t a societal trigger for them.

I find it depressing and so does my elderly aunt whom I was talking on the phone to. I was just watching old Seinfeld episodes on DVD from 90's and it had me longing for the past where we had more freedoms and could do ordinary things like go to the movies, eat out and shop without some precorded message piping over the PA every 2 fucking minutes reminding us to sanitize our hands, follow the arrows on the floor and wear our suffocating slave masks.

Life's been about the same for me, except sometimes I have to wear a mask.

At stores like Kroger, Walmart, Lowe's I don't usually wear a mask. Some people look, but I am sick of wearing a mask.

The local supermarket is getting more and more draconian and restrictive with blocking off more isles to inconvenience people and make their shopping trip longer and putting up more signs reminding us that is a pandemic and be nice to the staff. I suppose the public are getting pissed at being lectured to constantly about sanitizing their hands, being forced to wear a suffocating hot face mask to shop and follow the arrows like we are prisoners in a prison setting.

I personally like the online learning. I can see what the children are learning and feel they are safe at home. We probably will move over to home schooling once the restrictions are lifted, if that ever happens.
