Drug use is not really a so-called victimless crime because it causes a lot of flaky, freaky behavior in people. Behavior which causes disruptions in the workplace or elsewhere, which leads to problems for an employer, for a drug user's family, for the government having to pick up the broken pieces left by an addict/user.

Oregon's liberalism is anything but wonderful and beautiful. It's just liberal, period.

While legalization lifts a huge burden off the cops and their resources and hits the cartel that sells to Oregon hard, this attracts new junkies from everywhere around the country looking to escape the chance of prosecution. So you're going to see a sharp increase of junkies relocating there and a sharp increase of conservative people wanting to avoid them leaving.

Because if the environment determines the person and how they will act, we are screwed. not savable. irredeemable. lost.

if the environment determines all. there is nothing there to save. no free will. no soul. then it doesn't really matter at all.

What about all of the people that can handle their 'entertainment' options?

Hmmm, just like cars. There are some people that just can't handle the vehicle if it is going over 45 miles per hour. Maybe they don't have the brain power to process things that fast or the physical skills necessary to drive at that speed. You know what? Because some people out there are unable to drive that fast, lets restrict all vehicles in the world to go no more than 45 miles per hour.

you know, for the children.

Actually, it can't be both. It is either one or the other. There is no grey area here if you really think about it.

Making that grey area and confusing the subject does nothing but allow you to lie to yourself.

You use junkie with such abandon. Maybe we should distill junkie down to its exact meaning huh?

what is a junkie ... someone that is unable to say 'no' to their desires? or is there an additional requirement of harming themselves or others?

We should also distill down the exact meaning of 'drugs' if we are actually being honest with each other here and not pushing some stupid agenda.

what are drugs? something that alters a bodies natural chemical balance?

caffeine? alcohol? thc? endorphins?

oh, I get it now. You people aren't actually looking to solve anything or get down to the base issue...you are just looking for an easy villain to demonize and make yourself feel better for being so smart and pure.

my bad, continue on with your circle jerk then.

Yes keep Pretending that there is no crimes associated with heavy drug use or that your taxes don't go to feeding them.

I don't pretend that there aren't rotten people out there that take a toll on society. I don't pretend my taxes don't support and fund them ... just like I also realize that my taxes fuels our war machine that kills innocents the world over.

But if I am going to point my fucking finger at something ... it has better be big enough to point at all of the issues that are exact duplicates. Because if I am pointing at drugs as the cause of human suffering instead of the person itself, my finger better be big enough to encompass the entire earth as would be needed with suck a stupid theory.

Drugs like opioid addictions are similar to casino betting. Lots of people didn't have gambling addictions until casinos became legal and moved into their area. Put poison on a plate and set it before them and they will taste it. As old as Eve and the apple.

You’re right, which is why they need to shut down all Walgreens and CVS and ban pharmaceuticals because they are destroying society.

West coast is lost, Washington (my state) sure to follow next elections. Might be time to sell the house, transfer facilities up to Alaska and say goodbye to the lower 48. Not sure if I want my soon to be graduated daughter starting her adult life in this morally corrupt region.

I moved to Washington from Destin my friend! I like the PNW much better, and I spent 6 years in Alaska sailing. Alaska is where I will end up once my career is over regardless, only indecision there is if I cut my time in Washington early or not.

Ah I gotcha. Alaska looks amazing. My wife and I wanted to get some property up there and do the whole “subsistence living” thing, but kind of like you were waiting until we’re forced to.

Hope you get to fulfill your dreams! Sorry that your state is turning into such a shit hole. Best of luck to you!
