There is nothing strange about this at all. All tracks that come to an abrupt end, have some sort of device or barrier to stop a train. In this city they chose to use stops that look like whale tails. It worked exactly as it was designed.

Bravo to the artists who conceived it and bravo to the engineers who built it.
