Do You Have to Wear a Mask at Your Workplace?

I work at a assisted living facility so I have to wear mine all the time except when I'm in an empty apartment that needs cleaned.

This is terrifying.

The blind compliance of two thirds of the world with a "symbol" of oppression, and their complete willingness and unquestioning acceptance of the "authority" with the loudest voice, without ANY self-verification.

I look forward to the day when I get challenged. The day the weak two thirds of the world encounter the unfaltering pillar of self-autonomy.

The confrontation feels close.

I thought I saw you say on here that you have a medical condition which makes you exempt anyway. I could be wrong on that.

Do most people at your work wear them? Are they required but you just have a medical reason not to?

yes, I'm medically exempt

the rest of the peeps at work don't wear em
when it's not busy and only one or two non-staff are in the building
some will put em on when interacting with public when it's busy
most times it's not busy though

there is a city by-law
but no one except by-law officers and cops are allowed to "enforce" it

I guess it depends where people work. I don't have a choice.

I am supposed to wear one all the time because we are in an air conditioned building, but I don't.

At first a lot of people tried to wear them even when at their desks, most don't do that anymore.

There are a handful of people at work at 6, none of us wear it until 7 when others start to come in to work. 6 to 7 is the best, followed by after 4, which is when most people leave, but sometimes I have to work late.

i requested a religious accommodation, and after several attempts to use coercion, veiled threats of being fired, and so on, I had a meeting with manager, supervisor, and HR, presented them with a letter, my Holy Bible, made my case (importantly, that the masks are not defined as PPE by relevant regulating agencies like OSHA or the CDC, and therefore fall under a dress code) and am not required to wear a mask or faceshield as a condition of my employment. The HR manager was actually extremely cordial and respectful - I enjoy those encounters with people, because it helps me bring what is best to the surface to be polite and professional with others.

Yeah, 7:30-8:00 in the morning is my mask-free time. lol

The cheap mask at Home Hardware are the best. Easy to breath through and easy to carry. Where it on your ear. What can they say. Ha ha

i own several businesses and told my employees they can decide what they want to do. But i never wear one. most of my employees don't either, except when they have to interface directly with a customer. which i understand.

That would be too hot. I heard it's an El Nina year. Those are pretty good for us here in Southern Ontario. I may not need a scarf this year.

I voted no, even though I am not working since I pretty much took a bunch of years off. But after the American election, I will go back to work and the only time I will wear a mask (a real one) is when I foliar feed...don't want plant nutrients in my lungs!

Maybe you can tattoo a mask on your face. Just kidding of course but ill bet someone probably already tried painting one on

I've tried several and I don't like being in any of them all day. I've tried the blue ones, black "breathable" ones from Amazon, and then a homemade one from Etsy that I bought at the beginning of this whole thing when I couldn't find them anywhere else.

They're all easy to breathe through until you have to talk in them all day.

I was also given a shield...which I've never worn.
