I live in an area with homes from mostly the 30's. They are kept up and the councilman and former councilwoman. made sure our district was kept nice. They had to replace a few streets sets of gas lines including my own. I'm happy we should be good for a number of years here and have some of the nicest sidewalks in the city.

Most of Baltimore is built on pretty aged infrastructure. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it is over 100 years old. Baltimore City doesn't have the money for preventative maintenance, so they pretty much wait for something to blow and then they fix it.

This time of year its starting to get cold at night. People are probably turning their heat on for the first time since April.

There's a method used, frugal, of backwashing gaslines that can cause the targeted explosions. I can't find any solid material other than chatter. There has been known terrorist training on gas pipeline explosions since 911, and electrical substations.

In the increased highway tanker truck explosions the cause is frequently "unknown". No Government Department is connecting the dots. Sure seems like the US has reached a point where we can't absorb the danger anymore.
