People have been dreaming shit like this since man began to walk.

The stories from the first quakes recount fire bursting up from the ground.

I was living on Russian hill in San Francisco for the 1989 quake what a ride that was

the thing about quakes big enough..they are over fairly quick..always be prepared with food, water, flaslights, maybe some flares..

but if big enough you get squished or dont..

i was 16 years old during the 1989 loma prieta quake..

about 150 people got squished in oakland double decker freeway..

had a friend who stopped at yellow light slamming on breaks to on ramp.

she watched as right in front of her the double decker freeway collapsed on lots of commuters..

she was happy she didnt run the yellow light..

I wanted to put some general earth quake info in.

Seismic events aren't just area events with an epicenter and a radial intensity.

For each individual location , each house and building , structure , they are a wave based directional event and that direction cannot change from a known fault line!


So find your house on the map and the find the direction ( azimuth) to the suspected fault you think poses the most danger of movement.

It is from that direction the seismic waves have to come from and thus with a little engineering common sense you can figure out what it will do to your house ( will it move off its foundations?). And which direction it will be moved by seismic activity..

Naval architecture. Secure objects to walls floor.straps to keep house on foundation may help..but might not ..you will have to decide

I'm just mentioning it to see if other have had similar experiences lately. You're right, it could be nothing. But I haven't had dreams like these before. Sure, it could just be dreams. But stranger things have happened. These dreams were so powerful and had such an impact on me that I actually talked about it with my wife this morning. Then I saw this thread on GLP and the video and the feeling of synchronicity was pretty strong. This is a place to discuss these things.

Is there going to be another huge New Madrid quake one day? You betcha. Are these YouTube “earthquake savants” going to predict it? Highly unlikely.

From my understanding, it will be HUGE and possibly split the US?

We won't know until we know. Just like forecasting rain, it happens when it actually happens, not before.

The big one will have much liquefaction.

Those impatient posters who choose to skip the liquefaction in Indonesia can skip right to the projected damage map at 9:15.

My area of Wisconsin will have moderate damage from a New Madrid quake.

It's also notable that the last big one was a series of quakes over 3 months. Literally thousands of quakes.

I'm predicting that a MAG 9.0 Earthquake will be centered in, and totally destroy Memphis. Maybe Dutch can weigh in on this.

At least SOMEONE is keeping an eye on things,i live north of the zone but there is a ton of information.I have fished Reelfoot Lake in the NW corner of TN.The amount the land sunk to create this massive lake has to be seen to be believed.I had no knowledge of the quake until visiting this area.The quakes lasted for 2 years,read Tecumsah's prophecy about the events.You sudo-scientist wannabes only parrot the skewed crap you think you know.You act inteligent but are mentally lazy and close minded.Go watch the NBA and STFU,

For myself, I have been just in a dark mood since Saturday. No reason for such as mood, all is well.

I remember going through earthquake drills at work several years ago. In all the years I'd worked there, we'd never once had an earthquake response drill.

And then I thought to myself, "This is odd, we don't get earthquakes. At most we might get some small aftershocks from a region located 150 miles to our south, a place that does get minor earthquakes. Nothing that could do any serious damage or injure anyone."

What was odder still was how we were told to respond to an earthquake - to immediately get away from our desks and any windows and move into the main hallway, where there were no windows and only a few doors.

Good advice as far as the windows go, but our office was situated in a high rise building where the windows would have been tempered and coated with a thick laminate to minimize the chances of employees being injured if the windows were blown in or seriously damaged.

And, the advice I've come across regarding earthquakes is that the safest place to be is sitting or squatting next to a desk or other heavy furniture if the ceilings or walls should collapse.

In a real and serious earthquake, we would not have had the time to make it to the interior hallways, nor would the hallways protect anyone from being injured by being thrown around or buried under collapsing walls or ceilings.

Finally, we were told to be ready to use the stairwells and head into the basement if instructed to do so. Again, this would offer no protection and we'd have no time to get so many people into the basement.

One day, it dawned on me that we didn't have an earthquake drill but a nuclear attack drill. At the time, Lil' Kimmy Jong Un from North Korea was threatening to lob one of his nukes at New York, and the city where my office was located just happened to be in the path of the missile. If it fell from the sky and failed to reach its target, it might land on my city.

With that in mind, going into a main hallway that has no windows and few doors, or even the basement, makes perfect sense. Doing so would protect against flash burns, flying glass and debris that might get blown in from a nuclear explosion occurring several miles away.

Obviously, the employer called the drills earthquake drills in an effort to prevent people from panicking over the possibility that our city could have been hit by a nuclear weapon if Kimmy went full retard.

So, the OP moves from earthquake country to get away from them, and moves to an area with higher than normal likelihood of having them, sort of from the pan to the fire or vice versa.

Then she posts something from an "earthquake savant" who predicts a big one so soon that his truck is loaded and ready to go.

Questions:
-If so sure of the prediction, why not leave now?
-What if truck is swallowed by a fissure before he can leave?
-What if the truck escapes the fissure but the roads out of the area do not?

Personally, I had a dream that a giant, hitherto unknown comet is going to splash down in the the Gulf Of Mexico on Thursday. It's going to go right through the eye of that hurricane that's there now, and the Tsunami from that will put out the hurricane but will send the wall of water as far North as Shitcago. I'm hooking my boat and trailer to the truck now and suggest you do the same. Or buy a boat. Or move.
