The Three Gorges Dam is rapidly failing.

It seems like it has been failing for months now.

Didn't simeone on this site prove that the CCP was using news footage from previous years (side-by-side analysis) to make it look like the dam is currently in trouble?

I have no idea why China would want to falsely make it look like they are vulnerable, but they certainly are using old footage for international vid releases.

If you would have bothered to look at the video

you would have heard him talking about distorted satellite imagery. And thus saved yourself from the embarrassment of putting your foot in your mouth.

I don't know if they measure outflow by water level in the reservoir or by water passing through the flood gates. If it is the former, then in the case of a growing leak underneath the dam we should see outflow continue to increase even as they shut gates.

If it is the latter, then that would mean that leaking water that does not pass through the flood gates is not included in the outflow measurements. In that case, we should still see anomalies in the chart as the water level diverges from where it should be (according to the outflow numbers).

We observe neither of those things, so there is no numeric reason to believe there is a leak under the dam.

The "wavy" and "distorted" appearance of the dam is a result of composite satellite photos (as stated in the video). If the concrete was that distorted in reality the dam would have broke long ago. Concrete is not that flexible of a material.

The three gorges dam has flood gates underneath the water which can account for satellite images of turbulence under the water.

That isn't to say there are no problems developing with the dam. Erosion is surely happening to some degree. That's a reality for all concrete dams. I just don't see any reason to believe a collapse is imminent.

I had been monitoring the 3gd.mooo site back when it was rainy season. Dam will survive 2020. The water level is at manageable level and there is no more flooding.

I don’t even need to watch this to know it’s wrong. The greatest danger to the dam is from Taiwan’s military.
