My own union demands a coffee break every 2 hours. Of course I abide with the union leader... Afterall he is me.

Nah, 26 years was enough...

I didn't quit before my youngest was almost 18 and had witnessed me working for a living his whole life...it's important for kids to learn by example from their parents...

Now my grandkids, two girls and one boy so far!, get to enjoy a playful and energetic grandparent!!

Find (your) niche that can make money and go for it. Starting small and in your free time is ok. You can always build from there.

That's what I did. I've went from minimum wager jobs... Then working after or before work on my own enterprises to making some decent coin without working for someone else. I set my own hours. If I want to sleep all day I usually can. Whatever.

I advertised in the phonebook and online with set days and hours, so I felt obligated to be there no matter what...professionalism and service are important to me, but different business models allow for leisure work schedules too I suppose...

I'd rather work.

I don't work locally with my latest venture. It's all online and a lot of my clients are in Europe. It's creative consultant work and media creation. I can do the same work at midnight as noon as long as I meet the deadline that was agreed upon it's all good. A lot of the work is reading a book and telling the writer if it sucks or not and how to change it in so many words.

Now when I had a landscaping business... I worked on a stern schedule.

I used to love working 4/10's. So many projects about the house to complete, lots of family gathering to have, all without being exhausted on Monday.

Some businesses can't afford to pay you to work overtime hours. The books have to balance. I'm always on board with taking overtime. Law stating time and a half pay is too much for many companies. I'd work straight time extra hours if the law permitted it.

That's a pretty good schedule.

I worked at a place that did those hours. Loved the schedule... hated the job. Was working at a facility that housed troubled teens. Little shits should have been in jail... they would try to shank you. Did that a while and moved on to a better work place that you wouldn't get stabbed at lol

Counting my military time I've been getting up every day and going to work for 40 years stright. Very few vacations.
