THOUSANDS of people in China have been diagnosed with a bacterial infection after a factory leak caused an outbreak.

The National Health Commission of Lanzhou - the capital city of northwest China's Gansu province - said 3,245 people tested positive for brucellosis.

It is big in livestock. German farms had brucellosis-free signs sometimes to let you know their cows did not have it.

I don't think it poses much risk to people with a normal high acid content stomach. But anyone taking a proton pump inhibitor can easily be infected. If they don't catch it before the heart is destroyed, death results.

Unpasteurized cheese I think is the main transmission route.

Brucellosis is a highly contagious zoonosis caused by ingestion of unpasteurized milk or undercooked meat from infected animals, or close contact with their secretions. It is also known as undulant fever, Malta fever, and Mediterranean fever. Brucella species are small, Gram-negative, nonmotile, nonspore-forming, rod-shaped bacteria

It is one of many undulate fevers, probably the most famous. Drink pasteurized milk and cook your meat. Elk and bison can carry it too.

I don’t think it would be a good weapon since you can cook your food and kill it, and it’s treatable with common antibiotics.
