There are circumstances when a warrant is expunged totally. This usually results when the defendant isn't the person who it was issued for. Mistakes do happen. Sometimes one is expunged when a defendant can demonstrate very extenuating reasons for his non-appearance, for example, proving that he was hospitalized.
