This must be the same invention I read about last year where they used graphene wafers stacked, and to flex the material is what charged it--simple motion. I assume this is the refined result, but awesome to hear this is coming.

Sounds cool, but I wouldn't invest any time into it until they hit the shops.

Sounds to me like the solar window company I invested in some time back. Lost my ass when the scam was revealed. I've gotten that I don't trust any so called "nano" technology which to me is nothing more than a buzzzzzz word.

Pleasanton-based green energy startup NDB, Inc. has reached a key milestone today with the completion of two proof of concept tests of its nano diamond battery (NDB). One of these tests took place at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and the other at the Cavendish Laboratory at Cambridge University, and both saw NDB’s battery tech manage a 40% charge, which is a big improvement over the 15% charge collection efficiency (effectively energy lossiness relative to maximum total possible charge) of standard commercial diamond.

It has also just signed its first beta customers, who will actually be receiving and making use of those first prototypes. While it hasn’t named them specifically, it did say that one is “a leader in nuclear fuel cycle products and services,” and the other is “a leading global aerospace, defense and security manufacturing company.” Obviously, this kind of tech has appeal in just about every sector, but defense and power concerns are likely among the deepest-pocketed.

Any game changing tech sounds like bullshit because it's a foreign concept. Also since big fucking oil is one of the biggest industries on Earth it has the money to shut down new tech amd make people look bat shit crazy and has done so.

Sorry. Even IF, no one here or even on the common market would see anything like that in the foreseeable future. There’s too many Mars rover, military technologies and so on for it to wash through before it could land in the hands of the citizens, and then it would have a way to run out have to because let’s just be honest; they’re not going to give it to the people if they can’t sell it.

This is not new tech, Hutchinson invented crystal/mineral batteries back in the 80's, this company simply expanded to using diamonds instead of crystals.

If you consider the power of the nuclear bomb, from the splitting of a single atom, this isn't impossible. There is nuclear energy literally everywhere. Only certain types of radioactivity are dangerous as well. Now government regulation, THAT complicates the issue.
