They will probably send them home because the respirators with valves have already been noted and not recommended for use because of that valve. Teachers are known nazi's when it comes to stuff like this.

I just hope parents have sitters lined up because even if your kid gets a runny nose because of allergies or a cold, I fully expect they will send them home.

Get your kids (and yourself) masks that have check valves for free-breathing OUT. The school would be dumb to accept them, but I bet they would be too ignorant to know they would not be effective, as far as your kid breathing OUT. But your kid will be able to exhaust his out going air fully, without having to breathe it back in.

I asked the health dept in Colorado which mask they recommend for my kid when he gets back from San Diego.

They said they do not recommend anyone that is not acclimated to wear a mask for 4 weeks until they are fully acclimated.

Just got a email from my kids school stating that all the kids have to wear a mask while in the school.

So I called the school and asked. "Can you please tell me which OSHA APPROVED Mask the kids should wear?"

The poor gal on the Phone starts fumbling "Uhhh ahhhh uhhh I don't know" I said "As a parent it is important that I know for certain my children and the teachers are properly protected. So the school must provide for me a OSHA APPROVED Mask that is safe to wear for the time periods the children and teachers will wear them.

We shall see what happens. lol

Are they admitting there's a problem with oxygen with the masks?

I think Trump went long with it to avoid threats by those pushing for vaccinations and all the mask-hype.

I hear face shields trap more co2 than masks

OSHUA approved masks are n95 respirators and must be provided by the entity requiring them. Also training and proper use and fitment( proper sizing ) must be required . An n-95 disposable mask can be worn for no longer than 8 hrs or shorter periods depending upon environment. If an entity is to require a mask, it is legally bound to follow certain directives as set forth. Unless you give consent to what they are requiring. Even at that , if they are requiring you sign off on anything, require them to sign a liability contract with you that advises them they are taking responsibility for any and all future problems that may result from deprivation of oxygen.
Easiest thing to do would be to claim a medical or religious exemption.

RECTAL SWABS FOR COVID-19 DIAGNOSIS
Dear Editor,

the oro-fecal route is well-documented in patients affected by SARS-Cov-19 (Wang et al., 2020; Guan et al., 2020; Lescure et al., 2020). In particular, fecal excretion persisted for 11 days after sputum excretion in 82% adults (Tian et al., 2020). Oropharyngeal specimen negativity been described together with anal swab positivity up to 28 days after the onset of symptoms also in in children (Xu et al., 2020; Fan et al., 2020). This finding suggests that some patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection have viral RNA or live infectious virus in feces well after the negativization of oropharyngeal specimens.
Apart from the inference that patients test positive on rectal swabs even after nasopharyngeal swabs become negative, another deduction can be drawn that is even more important by an operative standpoint. Indeed, the available data suggest that some patients test positive on rectal swabs in the very first days of COVID-19 onset (Lescure et al., 2020). To make a few examples, in a review article, Tian et al. (2020) reported fecal PCR positivity ;5 days after sputum in in 53% of patients, while Xiao et al (2020) found that 39/73 hospitalized patients had viral RNA in their feces from 1 to 12 days. Therefore, the occurrence
of oro-fecal route points towards the usefulness of rectal swabs at the very onset of the disease to confirm, or even diagnose, COVID-19. A rectal swab could be performed, also in absence of digestive symptoms, in persons who meet one of the two following criteria:
1) throat- or sputum-negative patients with symptoms, signs or instrumental exams that are suspicious for COVID-19;
2) throat- or sputum-negative subjects with close or casual contacts with confirmed cases.

I'm a teacher and we will be required to wear a mask all day. I don't know about other schools, but there is not one classroom in our school that is big enough to allow social distancing with the class sizes I'm going to have. My room is maybe 30x30 max and I'm going to have 30 kids crammed in there all at once each period. Social distancing my butt. Not to mention passing periods where everyone crams together in the halls.

And I guarantee that all the hand sanitizer, etc, will run out after the first week. Since our custodial staff was cut in half last year, I'm sure they'll be able to keep everything squeaky-clean this year (not!). They're telling parents not to send their kids to school sick, but every year I have Johnnies and Susies come in during flu season who are obviously ill and have no business being there. That won't change this time around.

I know it's not ideal and it's a lot more work for me (to do it well), but I'm praying that they'll change their mind and let us do virtual learning til this whole mess sorts itself out. If I get sick then who's going to replace me? My district can't get short-term subs or bus drivers now as it is, much less qualified teachers in critical shortage subjects like mine.

Sorry, I just had to vent! Please say a prayer for me that I can stay healthy and not bring this awful bug home to my family.
