My Wife Wants To Get A French Bulldog
I did some research and get this:

They are unable to mate naturally so the females are inseminated.

They are unable to give birth naturally due to their narrow hips so all of the puppies are delivered via C-section.

How are these dogs even considered to be real animals?

Now I know why they're so expensive.

They're tough little guys but I'm thinking no.

My neighbor has one. They are Yodas! Completely Adorable! Almost impossible to walk or train, but so worth it. Love radiators!! They will grab your heart and turn it inside out.

They are very cute and have fun personalities, however they are also prone to many many health issues, including but not limited to stenotic nares, elongated soft palates, and skin problems and dental issues. Surgery is riskier because of their airway difficulties and they need to be kept cool as overheating can be lethal.

Usually the woman wants another baby, and the husband suggests a dog instead.
But you’re wife went right for it.
Give her another kid.

I had a friend that spent thousands on one. The trained it to use a doggy door but the dog went outside while they working and died of a heat stroke. We live in Arizona. The dog wasn't smart enough to just simply go back inside.

They are not bad pet owners either. OP I say pass on this breed.

Re: My Wife Wants To Get A French Bulldog
Inbreeding has caused these little fuckers to suffer from many degenerative issues, the biggest one being their restricted nasal passages.

Ever been around a Frenchie who just went for a quick run?

They nearly choke themselves to death, snorting and gasping for air.

Not very bright creatures either, impossible to train.

They are not dogs. They are retarded monstrosities. When people have children with the same condition it somehow isn't considered cute.

They are $5000 status symbols.
Get a little terrier, maybe a Boston.
They are cute and intelligent (mostly) and love to clown around. They are also a classic American breed.

Re: My Wife Wants To Get A French Bulldog
They're cute, but that's about all they are. They're way to fragile for a dog, due to lots of selective inbreeding, and the upkeep ain't fun. Why not try a pug instead. Similar size, similar looks but no similar headaches.

Our Lab is an odd ball. Brought him home and he never:

Cried
Peed in the house
Destroyed anything

He a loin. He does his own thing until he wants some attention. Then he bumps into you and wants to play.

We got lucky.

Re: My Wife Wants To Get A French Bulldog
There are plenty of trained French bulldogs doing tricks etc on Youtube. A dog's a dog when it comes to training.

One thing I can guarantee you: it will fart a lot. All the similar little dogs, like Pugs and Boston Terriers, are big time farters.

Don't get one if you won't take it to the vet. Lots of the short nosed dogs will have health issues. Also their eyes can have issues. They can get cherry eye and go blind over time in various ways.

Boston Terrier is 10x the dog a Frenchie is. More athletic, smarter, eager to please (1 person). And you can find them in many different sizes. Depending on how much bulldog is in their line. I lost mine last March he was 13 years old 33 lbs. Built like a pit bull but made for love. The only indefinable trait some of them have is their desire to lick people and thing. Mine licked a hole in the couch cushion.
