I was so frugal that I drove a vehicle that had no air condition in a subtropical zone.

I also lived in a place devoid of air conditioning where it got beastly hot AND studied extremely difficult material and was on the honor roll.

After being on GLP today, I was watching my son play a video game and randomly thinking if anything interesting was going to happen in September when suddenly the song September by Earth Wind and Fire started playing in the background.

It was what we call "stupid hot" here when I was 13 and I would mow grass to make money to maybe invite a pretty girl next door to get a softserve ice cream cone. It must of been 120 deg F. I didn't care. We sure didn't have air conditioning. Nobody did. It was worth it.

It was sweltering and you felt like you were in a daze, but all I could think about was her smile.

Young people in middle school so 7th graders would detassle corn and if older hang tobacco. You talk about hot sweaty work. They did it to buy a bike.
