I have developed some progressive viewpoints such as supporting single payer, but you are right there's no way I could go full bore liberal. We still need to keep out illegal immigrants and eliminate the parasite welfare state, for single mothers pumping out kids with different bad boys but also for big corporations who take handouts such as big oil, farmers, etc. There's too much political lobbying and pandering going on. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79063946 People need to make their own money, not be given free money for much more than 6-12 month stretches. They need to also pay it back. These welfare programs are going to collapse our culture. Single payer? Please! You cannot possibly be conservative if you support a state takeover of healthcare (that’s the only way it would work). Agree with the rest of your post though. Hmmmmm. Our health care costs way more per capita than any other country in the world. We need more preventive medicine and we need to regulate the out of control drug prices and the over-prescribing of medications for starters. Doctors get kickbacks to perscribe drugs. There should be incentives to be responsible. No health care for illegals. You have to pay more for certain high risk activities like smoking, getting fat, etc. I don't like this culture of telling people to do whatever they want, and the government will take care of you if something happens. We should have some kind of health care system in place for all, but it should have some common sense stipulations that encourage being responsible. As I stated in my previous post, you simply don’t resolve these problems by instituting a “government run” healthcare system overseen by the very people that corrupted the one we have already. The overriding issue is the corruption and lack of accountability. Fix that, fix the problem. The socialist way is a recipe for abject failure and much bigger government/more consolidated power, which is precisely why they’re pushing it so hard. I agree. Every healthcare issue mentioned is an issue that desperately needs to be fixed, so let's fix it. Having the state run it because it's broken is just a bandaid. It's overly regulated and infested with cronyism, so adding more .gov into the mix can't be good. Name one thing the government has effectively, or even efficiently run other than propaganda campaigns... I'd rather be real and rejected than fake and accepted. Individualism is the logical conclusion of rational political/social opinions. Leftism is the absence of any. |

All of us at one point were Democrats pre 2016. Once you wake up and see how they are purposely trying to destroy our Country, how they are using weaponized political correctness and hundreds of different manufactured social justice causes to do it. No going back. On top of that liberals can't even make a solid argument to debunk it. They just scream racist and the most insane part about it is they even do it to black people who Turned Conservative. It's been a little longer since I thought I was a liberal, but I have said the exact same things. That was my awakening. I'd rather be real and rejected than fake and accepted. Individualism is the logical conclusion of rational political/social opinions. Leftism is the absence of any. |

It would be nice knowing a person can quit their job though and know their health will be taken care of for the period in between without having to switch providers or pay hundreds of dollars per month. I think some level of basic care should be provided for legal citizens. |

I'm not pretending to have a solution, I just don't see more government as ever being it. The don't have one penny they didn't take from someone, and they don't have one rule they dont enforce at the end of a gun.
