About a month ago, I was walking in downtown Seattle, with my bluetooth headphones on, listening to music.

I walked past (met on the sidewalk) two security guard type looking guys that were not police (I think), yet they seemed to be patrolling the public sidewalks. (I'm not sure what they ARE, what dept, etc)

As I walked past them, my headphones made a weird chirping noise, over the music, for a second or two. It was THEM intercepting my bluetooth, and recording my location. They were contact tracer personnel, apparently.

Everyone probably has at least a dozen apps installed that can be location enabled and you can switch off all of them with a single preference toggle.

I have a smartphone - android 4 so hardly any new apps work on the fucking thing anyway.... but it calls, texts, photographs and looks at the web fine.

I have had it for 4 years and it was a few years old when I bought it secondhand for 30 pounds at a pawn shop - unlocked.

Sony xperia - the thing is pretty indestructible - i won't say it swims but it should have drowned many times and it seems to do better than most people when it comes to falling. Oh and the battery life hasn't seemed to change with age unlike every others planned obsolescence.

Naw, that tracking for Apple comes with the 13.5 update, which I refuse to install. One conspiracy I find interesting is that the description of said update doesn't say anything about the covid tracking, while others had posted pictures from their phone of the description where it does.

Also the covid api update was last month.... You all had this on your phone already... Months now...

Guess so...nothing on my phone under settings/health, but then again I set my phone to not connect to shit except for text/calls. I have to change my settings temp. every now and then to check the weather but then I turn all the shit back off.
