I didn't even know what to do or where to start. They helped me through it all. I was in contact with several different police officers that night. They were extremely empathetic and helpful. It was a terrifying experience, and they are the reason I stayed as calm as I did. Weeks after this ordeal, I got a phone call from an officer who was just checking in to see how I was doing as well as my parents. They gave me information that I could use to put my dad on a vulnerable person registry and asked me if there was anything they could do support-wise for my family. To me, that was going above and beyond. |
