These draconian moves by politicians to appease BLM demands are the height of cowardice. If this was still a representative form of government then the removal of a statue should be determined by a vote of the citizens of that state.

The weekend's removal of the Rodney statue is likely to be more momentous than the Columbus statue for Delaware, where a school district and other institutions are named after the Founding Father and signer of the Declaration of Independence.

Rodney, who famously rode 70 miles to Philadelphia in 1776 to cast a tie-breaking vote to declare independence from England, was also a slave owner.

When are they going to figure it out?

Slave owners invested in their slaves. They had to house them, feed them, provide the medical care. All of those things cost money.

Put it in perspective now. Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates or evening John Doe at the local bakery pays their employees. The employees work there and receive pay so that they can pay for housing and food. Most employers pay for healthcare for their workers. Some workers are sexually harassed by the boss. So effectively, anybody that works for a paycheck is a slave. The only difference today is, while you are still a slave, you can quit your massa now and move on to another plantation without their approval.

"Anastasia tells us about evil Creatus, the Egyptian priest.

Atop his dais, he watched the slaves carry stones for the masons... back and forth all day carrying stones.

The guards had to whip them, as they didn't want to obey.

Creatus saw one slave in particular with a look of rebellion constantly on his face.
Creatus had the guards place him as a slave in amongst the other slaves, so he could talk with the angry man.

Sure enough, the angry slave and his cohorts were planning an escape... and it was then Creatus had his epiphany!!

The next morning, now a priest again, he called a meeting of the High Councils.
He told them (being the ruling High Priest) that tomorrow morning, all the slaves would be released.

They would no longer be required to carry stones, so would no longer receive their food and housing from the rulers.

The slave would be given the option of carrying stones for a coin of the realm... one coin for every stone.

The next morning the previously lazy, angry slaves were lined up like a footrace.
At daybreak they began running for stones!!!
They ran so hard, they had no time to prepare food, and many dropped from exhaustion... but since they now had a pocketful of coins, they found a support system to provide those things for a coin or two of his stash.

We are still running today.
Are we slaves or freemen?

You decide!

Evil, evil Creatus!"

Truth is truth

Slaves outlived indentured servant whites by MANY years.

slaves were taken care of, indentured folk had to be freed after 7 years..... they would be worked to death.

Yes, my mare, you are right.

My college history professor did her doctorate on this subject.
She went to library archives, and researched the diaries and plantation records, and this is what she found.

During this time period, she read about the fears of the plantation owners over slave uprisings that were occurring on the sugar cane plantations in other countries, and came up with a scheme to deter them from killing the masters like they were doing elsewhere.

They set the black slaves against the white indentured servants, causing them to hate each other instead of the plantation owners, in a bid for security against being lynched by those they oppressed!

They did this by giving special preferential treatment to the black slaves!

Like you say, Torchie, the indentured servants had no value after they had to be released, and they were to take their tools with them as part of their indentured service.

The masters killed them off before they could cash in every time, and kept the slaves as a cared-for work force of great value!

That statue they knocked down in Portsmouth, Virginia, was a tribute to black soldiers who fought in the Civil War.

By the way, that protestor, who was injured when he took part in knocking down that statue, now has $42,189 in his Fund Me account so far. Thousands of donors. Break the law and benefit financially.

George Floyd's brother has $14,188,000 in his Fund Me account. It grows every minute of every day. Unbelievable. He made it a point to say that the money is for his family and nothing else.

You are correct. I never thought of that!

What about people today with nannies? With maids? Crop pickers. I see them in farm fields nearby. Are they slaves?

Years ago, weren't black slaves and their families fed, clothed, and housed? Now, blacks want reparations for people they didn't even know.
