The narratives must be challenged on every front and there are several; police misconduct being but one of them. Defunding the police is about as retarded as it gets. Gen. John B Gordon and Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest were the finest citizen-soldiers birthed in America. |

To change something build a new model that makes the existing model obsolete. -Buckminster Fuller ...I adapt to the unknown, under wandering stars I've grown, by myself, but not alone... When someone puts on that uniform, they get respect. They can lose it. It is an office that should be upheld with honor. We have gotten away from this with all things. Profit motivation - yay fucked up something else. sigh |

People should be able to not need babysitters. But that is a whole other thread. |

I know quite a few people in Uniform, who have earned respect. Certainly not all of them tho. Agreed about the profit motivation. The Founding fathers #1 agenda tho? |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73629443 United States 06/13/2020 01:14 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | You poor dumb bastards just don't get it. Every one of us has the same "powers" as police. If most Americans were not such cowards and actually stood up for what's right and would protect each other the way Americans used to do, Corporate Policy Enforcers (police) would not be needed. (Btw, they got the name police from policy enforcer, not law enforcer) Before there were "cops", "police", there were sheriff's and his deputies. True Law Enforcement. Even then, citizens handled most day to day law enforcement (because real Man can live within agreed upon law and other than the most heinous offenders, a Law Officer was not be needed. Between cowardice of protecting onesself and citizens being brainwashed into thinking that only a "Superman Cop" could handle people that went opposed to Societal Norms (laws), citizens fell into the trap and now don't realize that everyone of them is just as "special" as police and that cops really aren't needed in a civil society. Where I live, it takes the Sheriff's Dept 45-60 mins to respond to a call. Most neighbors around me have an alarm that can get heard for miles away. Those that don't, still have guns. If me or any of my neighbors abunch of shooting, we think nothing of it. Target practice. But if we hear one or two shots, the phones light up or we go to investigates before cops could ever get there. We watch out for each other. We don't look the other way. We are Law Enforcement. |

If you don't, you don't have the privilege of wearing it. Therefore, in theory, the office holds the honor and respect, and it is made sure on all levels that this remains so. We don't do that... We could? Make more sense? |
